Which is thankfully not made with see-through material, but still.....

How many folks here, when asked what they were doing in a particular neighborhood have claimed to be surveying for an above-ground sewer?

Adding a link would be helpful

I nearly lost my job after telling a neighbor that we were building an overhead glass sewer line. I was just a snot-nosed kid at the time.

They do those here for temporary use structures, mountain cabins will have them, they have a service that comes and pumps them out. They are getting more and more popular.

No, but we did tell some curious folks that we were surveying for an underground airport.

Was once driving past a former co-workers house (about 20 wooded, what passes for rural around here, acres that adjoined a state park).?ÿ Went halfway up his drive and set a very conspicuously flagged up stake that said "CL PROPOSED 150' R/W 274+00".?ÿ?ÿ

My old boss, while standing at the instrument and a passerby asked what we were doing, would point his hands towards the edges of the nearest building and then while moving the angle of his arms slightly to the right and say "the whole building has to move 6 inches to the right".?ÿ

That one, or if it was a vacant land, we were always "puttin' in a walmart"

I place a stake marked "Exxon O/G Well #1" in the front yard of a mill supervisor that was withholding control data.

My old boss, while standing at the instrument....

Was a crew chief for a small company where the owner and I were the field crew during slow times.?ÿ He was a bit of a curmudgeon (as?ÿ@gary_g can attest).?ÿ Once a kid, around twelve years old, on a bike, road by and asked "what'cha doing?"; his reply "minding my own d@#n business...you should try it sometime."

I was always tempted to say, "searching for leaks in the underground fuel line for Seabrook Station" (NH's nuclear power plant) while swinging the metal detector around (zzzzZZZzzzZZZ!).?ÿ College was too pricey to risk losing my job, so I kept that one to myself.

I use to tell folks there would be a teen dance club and a drag strip built on the property.?ÿ Nobody younger than me knows what those terms mean anyhow..

I did tell some kids on bikes?ÿthe other day they were going to built a water park with the world's tallest slide on a vacant lot I was surveying.

ps - I was also happy to see kids riding their bikes...

While doing a mortgage survey (early in my career) a group of neighborhood kids asked my rodman what we were doing. My rodman was about 6'6" with a long bushy beard, long before long bushy beards were de rigueur.?ÿ He thoughtfully stroked said beard and gazed into the distance as he wistfully said "We're thinking of putting in a water slide".?ÿ

The kids went nuts. They all scattered in every direction to tell their mothers of the wonder.?ÿ One of the mothers even came out to check on the story.

The Garden State Parkway in NJ went right through one of the largest cemeteries in the area , early 50's hundreds disinterred and relocated . In about 2010 the ramp for The Allied Junction RR station disinterred over 1200 indigents in a potters field in Secaucus NJ.
