I've always dealt with the folks at Hayes Instrument, but for reasons not related directly to them (other than they don't sell Trimble products) I'm looking for a Trimble dealer that hopefully has a similar reputation for sales and support. Any recommendations?
A location would help. Best to have one close by.
I'm in the so called mid-west. But what I've learned about dealers around here is that it doesn't matter how close they are if they won't return a call. Most are only there for the sale, not so much for support-Hayes being a known exception.
Seiler Instruments in St. Louis. TOP NOTCH.
Go to Trimble's website and search for a dealer to see who is near you. Unfortuntaltly, they are territorial. So depending on your location you may not have many options. Here is the link to search: http://dealerlocator.trimble.com/
I had the pleasure of working with many different Trimble distributors throughout the country at my prior employer. If you drop a couple of names I could give you my 2 cents...
Jeff Clark at Precision Products in Nashville. Licensed Surveyor, now sales and support.
:good:
Always had great support from Seiler in Omaha.
Couldn't agree more. Seiler is a big supporter of the local survey associations. I would recommend them to anyone. Ask for Pat Stack or Tom Bryant. I believe Tom is a beerlegger too. I'm sure he will respond to your post in due time.

What state are you in?

They are normally territorial, but if you have one-man branch office or work in their area, I can't see how they won't sell to you. I did that with Leica in another state after I couldn't get response from local sales.
While we were doing hydrographic survey working near St. Louis and had a branch office up there, we dealt with Seiler on support of our Trimble equipment, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how responsive they are.
In the mid-west - one more vote for Tom Bryant - great source of all things Trimble and surveying.
I agree. NEI are good people.
Does Lee Drennan still work for them?
I last saw Lee at Trimble Dimensions back in 2007. I knew him when he was at Kara in Maryville, IL. Great guy, even better cook.
I used Seiler in St Louis the last time. One of my guys lives there and he dropped the 5601 off and picked it up. I have also used Martin Instruments in Austin Never have been able to deal with NEI. I asked them once if they could replace the backup battery in our Geodimeter 600., and what did they charge for that service. Three days later, I got an email back from them saying they could do it. I could not talk the boss in to approving a PR for we can do it. In the meantime I had contacted Martin Instruments. We shipped them the instrument on Monday, second day UPS. Thursday the Fed Ex man brought it back ready to go.
I agree. They are one of the top notch distributors in the country.
Dan and Kevin are awesome! IMO: Martin's service is second to none. Their sales guy isn't that bad either...;-) ole Bobby will get you a good deal.

I've known Marty for almost 16 years. Marty = Martin. They are the best Trimble dealer I've ever known, but that could be a bit biased. Bobby is ok too I guess...:-D
I have been informed that Lee has departed from NEI. I do not know the circumstances.
