Received a preliminary call to discuss finding the boundaries of what turns out to be 28 private tracts along a 1.2 mile strip of what was once two different State highways passing through a small city.?ÿ Nine are metes and bounds tracts tied to the two sections involved.?ÿ One section is north of the standard parallel while the other is on the south (PLSSia unique issue).?ÿ The next six tracts are in one addition to the original town.?ÿ The next eight are in a second addition to the original town and the final five tracts are in the original town of 1857 vintage.?ÿ Roughly a fourth of the distance has existing sidewalks.?ÿ The project would create a hiking/biking trail along the front of all tracts, being something like eight feet in width, give or take.?ÿ Nine street crossings are involved.
If only concerned with the boundaries themselves and ignoring topography, utilities, physical obstructions, etc. would this fall into one of the following price ranges??ÿ Pick one for your neighborhood.
$1000 to $5000
$5001 to $10,000
$10,001 to $15,000
$15,001 to $20,000
$20,001 to $30,000
over $30,000
Over 30K.

The time I would spend on something of that nature would be a function of whether or not there was any title work/ research made available.?ÿ If I had to 'hand-dig' all the records and chase things down myself it could get pricey.?ÿ
To the client: "4 months and 4 million dollars...you're really going to like it when you see it!"
To be honest, this does sound kinda "fun"...at least from my POV.

@bstran
Where's it at?
You know the design engineer who called. The initials are D and C. You also know the city involved based on the (PLSSia unique issue).
Balls of steel are making this possible. (You know now who is assisting with funding.)
I would guess something on the order of $1500 per tract.?ÿ
It depends.?ÿ
Do ??I? own any of the tracts?
Have I surveyed here before??ÿ
Are there review fees?
How much interaction will be required with the project team?
has a surveyor if ill-repute surveyed here before??ÿ
what are deliverables?
are title commitments being acquired on each/any parcels and by whom?
how many private owners are involved?
how far away is it??ÿ
Is it GPS country or conventional equipments country??ÿ
given the variables it could range from$10k- +$30k
Great comments so far.?ÿ Rankin has made a nice list of pertinent questions.

If it were me, I'd say hourly only. If you don't want my hourly proposal that is certainly fine with me.
