I got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today. In NC, people 75 and over, regardless of health, are eligible and I was lucky enough to snag a spot in my home county. However, you do not have to be a resident of the county where you get the vaccine, so a good strategy is to try them all until you find a spot.

On a sadder note, my wife of 52 years passed away on January 5. She had been ill since 2017 and in declining health for the last few months. Not a covid victim, she nonetheless was affected by covid. It completely destroyed her social life and demoralized her.

Hang in there, everybody. Hope is in the air and help is on the way.

Much sympathy for you. You hang in there too, and keep plugging away as you adjust to the situation.

Sympathies are extended from here as well.?ÿ No matter how much one can prepare for the day of being alone it is still a time when support is needed from those who can provide it.?ÿ Not just during the standard mourning time but during the weeks and months to come.?ÿ Hoping your support network will fill your needs.

Deepest condolences for you and your family and friends. I too enjoy the levity and absolutely interesting genuine perspectives you post here. I hope as you venture into this new venue on the stage of life, that the memories and great experiences you shared with her imbue you with a continuous source of positive feedback and that you continue to share with us your perspectives and ideas too.

Wow, I am so sorry to hear about your wife. 52 years is an honorable accomplishment and I'm sure it's tough for you right now. As clich?? as this might sound, please let me know if there's anything we can do to help. Seriously. Even if it's just a phone call to chat for awhile.?ÿ

I am sorry to hear the terrible news, but as others have already said...52 years is a long time and I am quite sure there are at least 52000 wonderful memories! Ling term illnesses are tough. I lost my Mother to cancer and that was a whole lot of no fun. However, seeing the struggles end can oddly enough be a relief but never what we want. Stay strong and you are in all of our thoughts.?ÿ

I, too, offer my sincere condolences.?ÿ

While I am not the wordsmith that all who commented before me are, I do agree with all of them in wishing you the best and hope that you can work through this difficult time in the best way possible.
