Started a FB group for (licensed) surveyors with drones looking for members...
My kids set up Facebook for me soon after it became available.
They said to look for them there.
Looked for it many times and have not found a way to sign on with the info they wrote down.
Thank you for the offer.
Drones don't fly thru the woods 5ft above ground level and that has kept me from seeing one in survey mode.
Not on facebook, never will be
Don't like the company, their policies, their actions
See no benefit to being a part of their product
But then I am a VERY anti-social surveyor 🙂

The level of tracking and data mining/sharing is disturbing. Just don't like everything about how it operates.
It's a tool, what you share and what you do is up to you and obviously they make money by selling and marketing your info. But even posting on a forum like this that is out in the open, everything is mined. It's very hard to avoid these days the best thing you can do is create fake alias and use tracking blockers if you are concerned.
There are some good conversations (on FB) going on in some of the UAS mapping and commercial UAS groups. I've started a private group that is just for licensed professionals who have an interest in remote sensing, so it will be small. If you have any interest in joining send me a PM.

You can be tracked through your hardware device id, try it on youtube and you will see. I don't think you can compare this site and facebook I have yet to post something here and find a suggestion on a different site for what I was just discussing.
I am not trying to disparage your facebook page it's just I personally am allergic to Facebook, Youtube, Google, Microsoft.......
Aye. What is the group called? There are a number of really useful drone groups on FB already.
Sorry to say it boys, but I'm reading this via Facebook. I found out about this site and continue to say informed about posts via Facebook. And this post was in my Facebook news feed.

That's fine but Facebook have no way of getting my device id (as far as I know) and I don't post any personal info here. But I presume Facebook have yours. I find it amazing how people just don't see how much of an issue this is.

How are you accessing the forum? Whenever I use Facebook it links me to the website, I think, but when I use the iPhone app I do see ads for things I have browsed within the app.

You have to login to do anything... so if you just go to facebook.com, you'll see the login form.

As discussed already, yes but if you post here with an alias and it appears on Facebook then Facebook should have nothing personal to connect you to your post ( I am open to correction on this if I am wrong). But if you login and post through Facebook then Facebook have likely recorded your device I'd, browsing history etc.

Amazon drones are skynet. https://www.cnet.com/news/amazon-drones-to-scan-your-house-while-theyre-delivering/
Facebook isn't the only thing tracking you ( but they sure as hell know your here ) - look at what Disconnect says when you turn off its blocking feature:
There's 43 different "offsite" requests that RPLS links to - and they wonder why people use ad blockers. Not only because I dont want all teh ad BS in my browser, but DEER GOD the load times on some of these sites are bonkers. Additionally, if your on a metered interwebz connection ( satellite, phone tethering etc ) the blocking of all these additional "add-ons" is a massive data savings. Look at the load times alone between using something like Disconnect or UBlock Origin and watch your data useage - its really bonkers on some sites more then others.
Im not even going to get into what their calling "malvertizing" which is a whole 'nother animal which can be mitigated to a great extent when using those plugins previously listed.
I do understand that they need to make an income - but I for one think that some sort of a subscription based option would be an option to have being that I will not relinquish the ad blockers that I use.
And here I am today with the image of the last Terminator: Genesis movie fresh in mind from watching last night............
