Safety Vests - Dailey Wear?

In or near the street, and when working in an apartment complex. I'm not sure which is more dangerous, distracted drivers or paranoid residents.

I wear mine quite a bit. I at least wear a safety yellow or safety orange tshirt almost everyday, and the vest on most jobs. I even have a safety yellow and safety orange ergodyne broad rim hat that I wear almost all of the time to help keep the sun off of my neck, ears, and face.

I have both a yellow and an orange vest, depending on whether I am in the woods (orange) or yellow (by the road)

Don't even own a "safety vest?"

I do have an old (Orange) Filson that I [sometimes] wear during hunting season, BUT it isn't bullet proof!

I wore mine all time just for the extra pockets.

All the time - I carry flagging, pens and markers, nails, maps and plans,
a hand compass, small notepad, whiskers, a spike or two and a few other small
items.
I also wear a belt with a tack ball, hammer carrier, 25' tape, 18 oz plumb bob,
and a U-Dig It folding garden spade.

I always wear a blaze orange Filson when in the field. I'm addicted to the pockets.

It goes on when I put on my tool belt, street work or no street work.

A safety vest gives you one helpful advantage in boundary work. It convinces any curious neighbors that you're not a prowler, or a burglar casing the neighborhood, because such individuals don't wear blaze orange vests.

I wear it every time I go in the field. It's the best way to carry everything. Plus I agree with what the others have said, it makes you more visible, and people get slightly less freaked out when they see you wandering around the limits of their property.

Our county is all abuzz because people pretending to be surveyors have been breaking in to peoples houses. They were "green shirts" or orange vest, ask the people to come walk their lines and then someone enters their home and robs them. I got on the county's web site and said as an actual surveyor I'd just as soon not talk to the neighbors until the intitual surveying was complete. I've never went up and asked anyone at the start of the survey to walk their lines with me. Just a way to get rapped up in an old fellers tomatoe raising history.

My pants would fall off! Even with my belt tightened up.

My work vest that I use daily is a Class II SECO safety vest. If I'm working, it is on. Not because I'm safety minded, but because I may be working on a highway, or not, and it's required on a highway, so we bought a bunch of them and they are the daily vests for everyone.

Everybody who has responded to this thread is on report for poor spelling.

Impersonating a surveyor for the purpose of committing a burglary is disgusting. I hope they catch those guys soon. Perhaps PLSO should offer a reward for their capture. If nothing else, a reward offer would get some publicity and help to warn homeowners.

Yes I wear a hi-viz vest every day - I blend in perfectly. It has become comouflage

I mostly put it on if I'm doing boundary work in an area where I'm getting the vibe that residents may shoot first and ask questions later.

Only wear them when I have too, otherwise never
