Sad news...
May he rest in peace ??? ???? ?? ?????ÿ
Damm, that's to bad.
Ted did a lot of surveying in NH. One of his favorite phrases was " I can survey with a banjo because I know how to"
Some day this winter while in the field I'll pop a can of beenies and weenies in memory of you, no gloves or water of course.
RIP Ted
As Ted would say, "Wake up, Sheeple.?ÿ The black helicopter people finally caught me.?ÿ Save yourselves."
Ted was a dandy.?ÿ He could tell more fantastic stories per hour than most people tell per year.?ÿ Fastest surveyor in the world.?ÿ Never drank fluids while working because he didn't need them.?ÿ Could set up a tripod and have the instrument directly over the point and level in under five seconds.
I enjoyed the surveying stories.?ÿ Did not adhere to his beliefs about the gubmit being out to get him.?ÿ But, when it came to rescuing critters, he was a champion for their cause.
It was Ted that inspired me to write my first published article; on highway safety. I sat with him at a PLSC conference and he was much the same in person as on the web, yet still likable. Sorry that he has passed.
He faught on till the end and they finally caught up to him. ??¯?ÿ
He will be missed.
Never drank fluids while working because he didn't need them
Not so much not needing them; as they made you urinate, and that would just slow you down...
Never met the man; but people that have tell me his on-line persona was very different, in person.
Ted seemed to me, like a guy that loved competition; he would challenge you, heck, anyone, to be better than him, relentlessly, if you let him.
?ÿ
Hope he took all his gold with him; I heard they were doing a big paving project in heaven...
Let??s face, on the old POB web site, TDD, known as Ted Dura Dura, was a legend. ?ÿI always enjoyed his posts and suspect he was a pretty decent surveyor.
Sorry to hear, I'll just have to go find some Wunderbar Bologna in his honor.

His reaction to swine flu has stayed with me as tops after all these years. It was lol, get up and tell your wife about the crazy guy on the computer and remember it a decade later level content.
I miss the days when forums would pop off like that.
He was originally ted dura on RPLS but he somehow lost his login credentials so he created a new account under the name Ted Dura Dura to become famous as TDD.
Maybe someone can find the laundromat story.

He was banned. After numerous suspensions. Mostly for spewing racist hatred. That is how he "lost his login credentials".?ÿ ?ÿ
I thought I had included the link in my original post. Not sure why it didn't go through.
His reaction to swine flu
Don't leave us in suspense!
What was his reaction!?!
I'd exchanged a few emails with TDD. My general impression was that Ted was a hard worker. And willing to show his opinion. I thought he did a stint in the military, but none were mentioned in his obit. My impression was that he'd try to keep you alive, if you were on his platoon. And he seemed to refer to everybody, by what he thought was their race.
I'll bet Ted has changed his mind on water though.

@dougie?ÿ
He asserted that if it came down to it he would kill his immediate family before becoming infected himself if the plague turned out to be a worse case scenario.

His post were 'legendary' on the old board...I spoke with him once, over the phone....he sounded just like I thought he would.
RIP TDD
