Those were great.
The module I remember did not store any points.
It did have a thermal printer to printout computations. They would fade in time so I would plot and ink every coordinate to 4 decimal places on grid worksheets.
Wore my fingers to the bone during those years.
Hope I never have to rely upon one again.
😉
found making a photo copy of the tapes, cut to make columns, helped to make the printouts to last longer.
The really bad thing was that too soon the card reader gave out so you could no longer load those programs you spent weeks working on.
Tape drive? That mysteriously disappeared long ago.
Those were the days
I will pass this link on to my boss tomorrow. He is still using his last 41. I broke down and gave up my 11C and 32S when preparing for my Washington test. It seems the NCEES is scared they might give me some sort of advantage...
Tom's ROM for the HP 41 had a survey program and stored points.

I still have my 41CX with TOMSROM. It was a leap forward for me. About a year or two ago I needed the manual and couldn't find it. I looked up "Tom" (wrote the program). He was surprised that anyone still used it. Really nice guy. He sent an old manual to me.
Me. "What's the difference?"
T.C. Carroll "It's the difference between right and wrong!"
I still have a Sup-R-Rom for the 41, with original instruction manual and with a like new 41(I think its a CX). I believe it was from Surveyors Supply Company. I used it for a year (maybe two...) before switching to SMI - never used it again. That was many years ago but I'm sure it all still works fine. I'm far enough down this thread that I don't feel like its a highjack as the OP got his message across, and others have added similiar comments. If anyones interested, make me a offer I absolutely cannot turn down! 🙂
Mine stays on my desk and is used regularly. It a lot faster to just grab it for a quick calc. I won't sell it. It has a lot of sentimental value. I was pretty green when Dad bought it for me. I used it for the LSIT and LS exams. The thermal printer no longer works but that's no big deal.

Great comments....
I still have my original 41 I purchased in mid 80's, and a backup 41 too...
Thanks 🙂
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you...
SOLD!!!
:good:
Someone buy it now? Or did you get an acceptable offer? I'm emailing Dave with an offer on his since yours just went bye-bye.
How about 300.00 for the Sup-R-Rom, it reminds me of Giddings TX,pipelines and a tough PC.
SOLD!!!
I received an offer from a fellow BeerLegger, it's going to a good home 🙂
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you...
SOLD!!!
Thanks,
Back in the '80's I wrote my own program for the 41 which I used in the field. It would be interesting to see what memories came back with one in my hands.
SOLD!!!
I wrote a few programs too, even sold some in the classifieds in the POB magazine...
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you...

A Land Surveyor friend called a few weeks back with a geodetic problem concerning New Orleans District Corps of Engineers work. When he asked the people at the Corps how to solve the problem, they had no idea but suggested that he call me. Turns out, I had the exact solution programmed; I looked it up and scanned a copy for him.
I wrote the program 35+ years ago.
