I'm sure that this "client" will be blown away by any estimate for survey over $100.

I am always amazed when a caller believes that I have been sitting patiently by the phone for their call so I can rush out to meet them in a few.

How come "Landscaping" is capitalized? I guess our Profession is ranked slightly higher than fencing contractors and slightly lower than landscapers.?ÿ?ÿ

@paden-cash You bought that toilet paper dispenser from Microsoft, didn't you?

@paden-cash You bought that toilet paper dispenser from Microsoft, didn't you?

That's an example of me following directions.?ÿ My wife was PO'd at me for never putting the TP on the roll on the wall and leaving it just inches out of her reach (that was honestly purely by chance...).

Her exact (and heated)?ÿwords were, "All you have to do is stick the gawdam springy rod through the whole roll and then put it back on the wall!"

I have tried several times to tell her I followed her directions explicitly and verbatim...but for some reason she gets up and walks out of the room when I try to talk to her about it.

So basically I am not only NOT allowed near the automatic dishwasher...I can now leave a roll of toilet paper anywhere I damned well please.?ÿ ??ÿ

Signed, "one stubborn old goat"...or something like that...she had turned to storm off when she said it and I didn't quite catch all of what she called me.

  • Well, not exactly... I typed "surveyor" or something like that.
  • Kinda looking for a good pile of old survey stuff, 66' chain, rittenhouse compass... Old pile of survey plats in a file cabinet. Ya never know what you might find.

That may be what you heard, but she thought she said "through the hole in the roll".

I always keep an eye on it,?ÿnot to look for clients, but as a way to gauge the strength of the local market. If a lot of guys are advertising for help - time "relax" the cost estimates.?ÿ

I constantly get instructed that I put the toilet paper on the roll backwards to which I reply something about someone's metal state (I'll never learn)and tell her to prove it.?ÿ A couple of years ago she called me on it and provided the paten application for the toilet roll dispenser.?ÿ Sure enough the it shows the paper coming off the front of the roll.?ÿ I have corrected my evil ways and all is right in the Grove.

It always comes off the front of the roll. ?ÿIt all depends on whether you want to be pulling up or down.

My attitude toward new work inquiries comes from an interview I saw on TV years ago with a big-time professional poker player, who said "An amateur is always looking for a reason to stay in the hand. A professional is always looking for a reason to drop out of the hand." I'd surely find one for dropping out on the hand this ad has dealt.
