“The Topcon technology helped us save time and money, since we didn’t need surveyors. We didn’t need to set up one single survey stick or crosshairs anywhere on the site.”
Site Prep Mag.
I did wonder what all the GNSS machine control people did the other month when glonass went haywire.
Machine control is a good thing as long as the operators know their limitations.
Wonder what will happen when they discover the new building foundation is on the neighbor's property? :-X :excruciating:
Probably similar to what's happened before. And still probably still blame the surveyor.:-O
No Stakes = No Steaks! (Where's the beef?!)
Pretty sure the job super had someone previously set a TBM on his truck bumper, so he always has an elevation with him to take to the next job 😉

Great show. Miss it. Good signature.
> The graph is not too far off topic. Things do change. We are not always happy about it, but there are ways to make the best of a situation and even thrive on change.
I agree. No one likes change until it becomes accepted as the norm.
With that "I'm a leaf on the wind...." out. 😉
I'm not sure whether to laugh or groan at that. It sounds a bit too plausible to be totally a joke.
Ummmm, pictures 2 & 4 either have rebar without caps or survey stakes with flagging.
It's all fun and games until the law suits start flying. Good luck with that machine control guys...
Went to Topcon Technology Roadshow on Saturday in Lancaster, MA hosted by Bunce.
I'd say emphasis of show was on machine control. It was pretty impressive, and the guys from Topcon and Bunce did a great job demonstrating the equipment.
But, it was definitely a wake up call, in a way, to the fact that the land surveyor is being pushed aside in favor of these technologies.
Not a complaint. It is what it is.
