First Aid Kit in an Altoids tin

I left off butterfly closure bandages.

Never had a first aid kit in 37 years of surveying in the field. But if I did i would put in a can of skoal and a couple of ounces of green tea.

Take everything else out and fill it with advil 🙂

Or as I like to call it - I Be Lofen !

Honestly, guys. I'm 63 years old and I bet I haven't taken 63 advil/tylenol/aspirin pills, total, in my life.

Haven't had a wound yet I couldn't doctor up with survey flagging.

I'm old I need a lot more room than an altoid tin. My Tecnu bottle is just one first aid item I rely on. 🙂

I've had no debilitating injuries but lots of wounds, scrapes, punctures, a nasty hand break (that was a hospital visit). I really want my first aid kit around. All the trucks have one under the back seat.

The simplest would be to have a fully equiped ambulance, staff and all, following along on my days in the field.

What I'm asking about is something one can routinely carry in a vest pocket to get you back to the truck, back home, back to medical services if needed. First aid, not comprehensive care.

Maybe some gauze and tape, nitro if a person needs it, an epi pin for allergic reactions, some antiseptic wipes.

I don't really want aspirin, but some might.

Frankly, I carry duct tape and paper towels/TP everywhere I go and use those for band aid type wounds. A pocket knife and I always have some antibacterial liquid.

Throw everyting out and keep a pint of Jim Beam as an antispetic and pain killer.

My kit has evolved over the years, but a few things are consistent. Most have been mentioned. A few that have not...

I'm curious as to how a cravat fits into this conversation?

Not the dress item, the one carried and worn in the field by military folks. It's a simple triangle of light cloth that makes a perfect sling or tourniquet. They come folded and vacuum packed, which means they take little room and are clean when you unpack them.

I thought those tin cans were for extra plumb bob tips or tacs. Lol. Although I wish i would have had one set up for a first aid kit not long ago. I did something really dumb. It’s what happens when you have set in the office to long. LOL.

Yeah, I did something like that a couple years ago. My brother gave me a gardener's knife, which is a cross between a trowel and knife. I whacked at a weed that was in the way and overshot to hit a finger on the other hand. Flagging was the best bandaid I also had.

I figured I would have to learn to type with it permanently not responding, because the cut looked pretty deep, but fortunately it did recover.
