"...Shouldn't reference 9 be the WEST quarter section corner of Section 36?..."
Actually it should be East quarter corner of Section 35.

I'm right there with you. I've had two cell phones since 1999. The first was an old torpedo "Nokia" and simply could not get batteries for it, so I retired it.
I've only had this little Samsung flip phone for about six years. When I went in to get a battery for it about two years ago the kid at the counter looked at it like it was a dinosaur....he said, "can you even get online with this?" When I said no, he started in with a sales pitch....
poor kid's ears are still red....

Were you able to get the survey packs with it?
My boss is selling all of the old GXs we have, with TDS survey pro, the manuals, and the environmental cases for pretty cheap. If you happen to be interested I can find you the hyperlink and post for you
Chris. Give me shout. I've got a 48 with a cracked screen that works fine... except the cracked screen. It was my "field" 48.

Sounds like a good excuse to get together for that beer. 😉
Scotland is right on.

I went to one of our engineer's offices about an issue, and saw his hp48 sitting on his desk. I said, oh cool, you have an hp48 and picked it up. I pushed the on button and it didn't come on, so I pushed the button while "pinching" it in the right place and it came right on. He looked at it and said "how did you get that to turn on? I thought it was broke." Anyway, I told him it was some kind of bug that the 48gx's had. Maybe I should check back with him and see if he wants to git rid of it.

I got my 50 from them with no issues but that was about eight years back.

There is an app called Droid48. While no TDS/SMI package with it (that I'm aware of) you do get that good old interface on the screen of your phone and it does seem to have all the functions of the 48.
I don't really like the HP48 as a calculator. It the program card that makes it worth having.
What is your go-to calculator Norman OK?
What is the calculator now-a-days that is light years ahead of the HP 48?
I'm curious because I bought a HP 33s a few years ago for desk work. It's brand new in it's case still. I was not impressed. The HP 11c is a much better calculator.
HP-35s.
