I can't install Leica Geo Office Tools on Win 8.1

Not 100% sure, but it sounds like you may have to launch the setup file with "Run as administrator". I don't recall seeing this issue when I installed it on 8.1 but could be that I'm forgetful.

Thank you Jacob.

I tried that and didn't work. It doesn't seem to be many people with this problem. I sent an email to Leica's support.

Pablo

pgcandia,

Is this a Node Locked install - install license for only one specific work station or is it a Floating License - to be installed on a network so that others can use the software license.

If it is a Floating License install - is the license server being installed on a local PC, a "normal" network server or a virtual server.

There may be some issues in the Floating License server install.

thank you Mark,

Leica Geo Office Tools is actually the light version of Leica Geo Office. It's free therefore no licence activation is needed.

Regards
Pablo

Pgcandia,

I am sorry... I misread the title of the post.

LGO Tools will not run in Windows 8 at all. Maybe there is some way to get it running but the software is no longer supported. The last official operating system for LGO Tools was Windows XP.

Leica had LGO Tools for a free software that would interact with allot of instruments but was mainly for mid-range total stations. Once he Leica FlexLine series came out Leica produced FlexOffice which is now the software for handling onboard data flow for the FlexLine series.

There is no free version of software like LGO Tools anymore.

Thanks Mark,
That's what I thought.:-(

Regards
Pablo

I have exactly the same problem...
that is so frustrting
i never expected such a huge company
not supporting the customers or at least
inform us that they are not going to support the program!
It is unaccepted :-S
Spending a bunge of money to buy a Total Station and no one cares
what you are going to do when you change your pc!
Especially now that XP are not supported either. :'(

yes i can install Leica Geo Office Tools 7 on Win 8.1

Hello,

did you install LGO on win 8 or just the light Version. when yes, HOW you managed to do this...Thanks

how install Leica Geo Office Tools on Win 8.1

ok, this thread is kind of old but i explain the way i find here.

Problem:
when installing Leica Geo Office 7 or Leica Geo Office Tools 6 setup crash on last stage "Check Satellite database availability". no compatibility mode or extra permission or third-party prerequest installation solve the problem.

Workaround:
after install LGO or LGO Tools, get Leica FlexOffice 1.1 installation setup and install it. don't worry, you don't need to activate it. in install process, it successfully pass "Check Satellite database availability" and now LGO work just fine. 🙂

strange thing that Leica FlexOffice 1.1 have problem and didnt run itself on windows 8.1. i try some solution but no success. any way we don't need to run it ether!

enjoy your new windows 😉

Hi Omidi, where can i find Leica FlexOffice. in myworld leica i cant find it...

I just run it on a virtual XP machine within windows 8.1. Check out this article: http://lifehacker.com/5965889/how-to-run-windows-xp-for-free-in-windows-8

Hi,

I have the same problem when installing Leica Geo Office on Windows 10. Works fine on Windows 7.
Where did you find FlexOffice?

Thank you!

I have LGO 8.4 running fine on WIN10 Pro and have been for a couple years, you may have an older version of LGO? I don't know if LGO is available anymore (for upgrade), it has been replaced by Infinity.

Thanks for you answer! I have LGO 8.2. Maybe I should ask for the 8.4. I did not know for Infinity. I will look for it.

Aur̩lie

LGO 8.3 also works in WIN 10 Pro.

Thanks for your answer, it seems that if we want a more recent version (after 8.2) we need to pay again so that's why we are keeping the 8.2

Sorry to necro this old thread, but I spent ages looking for a fix for this issue (install LGO 8.2 on Win10 64) and finally got a fix.

Install the client as usual, and when it comes to the check for satellite availability and goes to not responding, force close the not responding window that pops up. Can do by right clicking and close window, or kill setupdb.exe. It will then go back to the normal install window and should complete.?ÿ

Then you need to create a new reg key with the following (dependant on 64 or 32 bit windows) and import the key into the registry:

THANK YOU so much for the post above.?ÿ Our IT administrator had to make another registry edit in order to install .NET framework 3.5, and then the registry file above worked perfectly.?ÿ Very much appreciated!

We have been learning Leica Infinity, and it's not near as user friendly as LGO for basic GPS processing and reporting.?ÿ It seems powerful, but the user interface is not friendly.?ÿ I'm an old grumpy surveyor who doesn't like to learn new software, so I'm sure the problem is all my own.?ÿ

Thanks again, cheers!
