Hell it is too hot to even go to the pool.

108 here in N GA today according to the bank sign. And no - it is not a dry heat.

At least nothing is on fire yet.

Aw now. TDD would be out there cutting three miles of line through kudzu, blackberry briers and Cherokee rose and NO WATER. You're right though, no job is worth getting your people (not to mention yourself) hurt.

I mentioned to my brother yesterday that I thought I would either catch on fire or melt. He pointed out that the air was too moist to spontaneously combust..... so the only option was to melt.... and today is hotter. A/C is the only option on days such as this.

I hear ya my friend. It is 103 here today. Triple digits all week in West Tennessee. Not a whole lot of fieldwork scheduled when it is this hot. Does not take long at all to get overheated in the southern humidity.

I have plenty of office work to do when it gets this hot.

Everyone be CAREFUL. There was a construction worked that died last week while working on the University of Arkansas Campus. They said his internal body temperature reached 109 degrees.

stakedout curb and gutter until 2 pm. That nice clay roadbed felt like the surface of a stove. Glad to be back inside with ac.

I'm enjoying my a/c for the next two weeks. Here we work in it like any other day. The office folks don't seem to understand 100-110 is dangerous. They just want their data.

I typically try to start early and get off early, but always seems to be some emergency that requires me out until 5 or later. I'd be smarter to just start at 7. lol
Drink lots of water and a few cool down breaks is all I can offer.

you folks with humidity have it tough - keep your self hydrated. Insert all the jokes you want about Arizona having a dry heat - I prefer 112 and single digit humidity to 90 + 90 any day. When I see you having 100+ degree days, I don't know how you manage, I really don't.
man o man, that's hard to escape.

63 here, with a lite drizzle this morning; got up to the mid 70's last week and was sunny!. Almost was too hot.....

It was a nice day when Angelo was here, Wednesday; we sat out on a deck and had a nice meal, listened to some cool jazz, talked about surveying.....

We switched last week and now work 6:00 to 2:00 with no lunch. You really don't need one in this heat. Just snacks, water and take short breaks. If you are sweating and still need to whizz then the radiator is working as intended. That's my things to watch out for.

A little over a year ago when I was in Yuma, it would always be 112°+ and it was hot but you get accustomed to it. Now that I'm in the SF bay area anything over 75° and I'm crying. It's kind of amazing how the body can acclimate to conditions pretty quickly.

A few years ago I surveyed out in this type weather all day long regularly, it starts to feel like you are in one of those sci fi movies on another planet with uninhabitable conditions. Its doable with the right clothes, hat, and plenty of H2O.

During that time I did a few weeks of these temps surveying in the war zone ghetto too, nearly got stabbed by a crackhead in the 100 degree temps...coming to my air conditioned home really felt like coming to a different country.

By the end of that summer, I know it would by my last romp in the field.

Too Hot To Survey.
Yass, indeed.
I always did feel that way about myself.
Never did anything about it though 🙁

Heat stroke is serious stuff, people. My grandmother suffered one in her 20's and was never fully right mentally after that. Lived to be 80, however.

Dry Heat

I love the dry heat thangy from folks, living in the desert, well dry heat, so is my oven but I don't hang out in there.
We've seen days between 115º & 120º during the hot summers out here, but it's dry, hell yea all of the moisture burnt out of the air. 🙂
