A friend of mine sent me this plat a couple of days ago... yes it is done in pencil, yes it was done in 2018, and yes the surveyor has the lowest registration number I have ever seen. Just when you think everything like this is gone, one will pop up. I cropped out the seal and signature and other identifying information.

I love it.?ÿ And it looks like all the info is there.?ÿ
We had two "hold-outs" around here?ÿof which?ÿI was aware.?ÿ I went to one's funeral a few years back and the other lost his license for professional transgressions.?ÿ Last I heard he was working the floor in the plumbing department at Home Depot.
PS - Looks a little like Kent's lettering... ??ÿ
It's a bit?ÿmessy, most of the best looking plats are the old free hand ones from a good draftsman. The computer ones don't have that same look. Nothing wrong with a free hand plat.
Pencil? That's not a good idea.

Pounce. Spray art fixitive.
Then pencil plats will be cleaner.

In (or around) about 1985 I worked for an engineering firm that was heavy into State highway work.?ÿ We had a need for a good experienced ink-slinger as our lead man?ÿwas retiring.?ÿ I remember seeing the constant flow of young men climbing the stairs for an interview.?ÿ They all had examples of their work tucked under their arms.?ÿ They finally settled on an older gent.
I found out later this older man had showed up without any resume or examples of his work.?ÿ The boss was a little hesitant to continue his interview and got "right to the point".?ÿ He pulled out an old State Highway Standard mylar and asked the applicant, "Can you do work like this"?
The old man looked at the drawing for a few seconds and said, "Sure.?ÿ I drew?ÿthat?ÿstandard?ÿin 1965 when I was with the Highway Department".
He had retired and was looking for some work just to keep busy and stay out of his wife's hair.?ÿ He got the job on the spot.?ÿ
Does he have the same name as the tall mountain in Alaska and a US president?

FYI, the tall mountain no longer shares a name with a president (and it never did for Alaskans).
Yes, I saw that when looked it up Google Earth.
I've seen worse CAD based maps that probably took longer to put together. Tip of my cap to the gentleman for breaking the lot so discretely that it took me a minute to notice.?ÿ
Everything is right on, he found the monuments and they are east-west 132.00, north-south 50.00. I know there will be people offended by that, but I'm not.
I see he still uses his trusty Ames lettering guide to keep things tidy
