Looks like today is the day. New equipment. Or tomorrow morning.
Javad LS, with Triumph 2 at base, with 35 watt radio.
It's money that I don't really have. But, my current GPS system is down. And, I sure hate to put more money into it.
Any comments? Advice?
Anybody got an extra pile of cash that they don't need? 🙂

I have some old worthless Turkish Lira laying around somewhere, I think it would cost more to mail it to you than it is worth.
Nate,
I think in a very short time you will see the upgrade is well worth the money. Your old equipment is many generations old. There have been a lot improvements, and that GNSS from JAVAD is on the bleeding edge of technology.
Welcome to the future of surveying.

I need all the Turkish Lira I can get! 🙂 Ha ha!

Lee, I'm overdue. I know it. I'd druther have another kid, than more equipment. But, new GPs equipment is like tires, and brakes. Has to be done sometimes.
Even if you are not in the mood.

Dang Nate,
I figured you would wait until you were hired as Arkansas State Land Surveyor and let the AGIO pick up the tab for the new equipment. Like the 'want ad' said: "Generates detailed technical specifications for major equipment items to be purchased through the Office of State Procurement".
Remember...tomorrow is the deadline to apply!!!

My newly acquired helper/protege/rookie/survey student ask me if I was going to get any newer more modern equipment.
I told him that there are some very good new tools out there, but you are gonna have to buy that for yourself, I'm not gonna spend that much money for stuff I will only use on 1/3 or less of the jobs.
The last 4 jobs I've done I only had 40å± points in the DC and that included a couple of deed descriptions.
I then said that in one or two years when you are out of surveying school and know more and have mastered the equipment I have now, we will look at the subject again.

I just got the same setup as you, Nate. I think you will be very happy!

:good:
How much is it going to cost you?
Don't look at it as something that costs you money. It is something that makes you money. And I'd guess that it will do it and put you home with the kids you already have sooner.
Hop over to Javad.com and build out a system for yourself. All the prices come up - they are cheaper then the 3-4 main players by a decent amount, but more expensive then the overseas systems.
You can use the more traditional Triumph-1M system with a non-javad DC. I have a brand new set sitting here in the office.

21,200 or very close. No Cell Modem, saved me a bit.

Dan, it's either State Surveyor, or it's new 'quipment. Rumor has it that John Thorton is wanting that job.
Nate, I have the same setup and have been trying to get my fcc license resolved since June. There are some issues with emission designators, etc. I would recommend talking with M.G. about the licensing details if you have to get one or modify your existing one. Otherwise, I have been really impressed.
Nate I am sure you will be happy with it. I have a customer that just sold his Hiper GA system and here is a quote from him today
"They were we thought the best system ever made - til now. Radio range from an internal was incredible.
This LS system is going to "change the playing field". It's no longer "can I get this with GPS it's just will it take 10 minutes or longer?
Truly is a beast"
He has had his Javad system for about 6 months now and is going to purchase another Javad system.
I will need 1 or 2 LegAnt Antennas, to get my older system working again, so I can sell it.
Nate
Doesn't hurt to ask, ya just never know...

JB, I like your new avatar, much prettier than the previous one.
Ha! That's the same thing my wife said.
