When you're saying monuments, are you talking about just driving irons, or are you meaning like those BLM 3" pipes with caps, or concrete monuments ?
If it were my choice, there are those gas or electric rotary drills that are getting some good hours out of a battery now.?ÿ
Today is going to be fun.?ÿ ?ÿNeed to feed the cows and search for any new calves.?ÿ Several have arrived this week.?ÿ Cows tend to be affected by significant weather changes, speeding up the birth of calves.
Current temp is 1F with a feels like of -15 F.?ÿ Shows a 17 mph breeze out of the NE but that must be coming later. a bit of snow is gently landing now.?ÿ I would guess between 1 and 2 inches added overnight.
It rarely gets this cold here.?ÿ I think it has been several years.
One source of weather data says our high will be 3 F while another source promises 8 F.?ÿ On a percentage basis that is an outstanding range of error.
It is so cold this morning that the ice in the air created a rainbow arch around the sun. Called a sun dog.?ÿ

One benefit of having Neuropathy. My feet turn blue, but they don't feel cold. When they thaw out they don't hurt either.
Just got in.?ÿ Have been out since about 10:30 doing farm related work, including moving about 20 big bales of hay from a field seven miles from the nearest cattle herd.?ÿ I think the high was 4 or 5 F.?ÿ I'm certain the wind chill was well below zero the entire time, but I was inside the truck cab 95 percent of the time.?ÿ The good news is that all of the calves seem to be enduring the cold fine so far.?ÿ Had to feel sorry for one calf whose mother decided a warm spot for it was inside a briar patch.?ÿ It came out to join the party surrounding the feed bunks, trying to understand why its mother would not turn around and pay attention to it.?ÿ She had her head buried in the bunk consuming the intake that junior would get to enjoy after sufficient internal processing to convert it to milk.
