I??ve recently changed to i-phone. And, it??s got some awfully fancy stuff in it. One that comes to mind is geo referencing. Is there an app that will show on google earth, the location of where the pic was taken, and the camera direction?
This would be handy, for documenting field stuff. My old method is to carry a clipboard, and write the point number on It, along with the camera direction, via handheld compass.?ÿ
automating this could help keep up with historic locations.?ÿ

I've got an Android phone. If you turn on geotags, or something like that, the lat and lon are stored in the metadata along with the pic. You can extract that data for use with Google Earth. Probably the same feature is on your new iPhone. I've heard there's an Android app that will show camera direction. Not sure about a similar iPhone app.
I-PHONE?ÿ utilities include compass, measure and calculator.?ÿ Also included is Voice Memos but I have never tried that.

Not a flip phone, but an Android LG. I took my vest off, to shuck a shirt..?ÿ Put the vest back on. And, ran the old LG over. It broke the camera lenses. It was not a great phone, but now it's worse.
I'm not that smart of a guy. There's a lots of stuff in a phone, I don't understand.?ÿ
I would carry a Kodak phone, for real good clear pics.

@nate-the-surveyor In the Photos app in your iPhone, tap on a photo, then tap the Action button (the square with an arrow on it), then scroll down the menu and tap View Exif. Scroll down the list of EXIF data to see the GPS field with latitude and longitude (WGS 84???). Keep scrolling to see a map with what I think is a notional depiction of the photo's field of view. Scroll more to see the GPS Direction field, with what appears to be the magnetic azimuth of the camera's pointing.
