Looking your opinion for a Leica robotic total station

I can't really comment on those particular models of instrument, but I can say that:

1. working robotic is the obvious way to go.?ÿ
2. robotic doesn't necessarily mean working solo if you don't want it to. It just frees up that the 2nd crew member to do other things.

You haven't mentioned what data collection software you might be moving to, and how the inputs/outputs to it affect your work flow. To a very large degree you should be shopping for data collection software first, and only then considering what hardware it comes with.

In 17 years I can attest to 1 thing, you can always rely on surveyors providing a snarky response, even when someone is doing the right thing and asking for assistance.?ÿ

The TS16 is a great piece of equipment, with nice accuracy (experience using one), it runs formidably well using Carlson software on a controller, that being said, don't expect a huge amount of support from a Lecia dealer if there are issues between Carlson and Lecia components.?ÿ

In case of bluettoth if we did not buy the handle of Leica and use parani sd1000?

I would like someone that uses the similar configuration Leica+survce in a data collector to tell us his thoughts.

You might want to check out the Geomax brand, which is basically Leica hardware paired with Carlson SurvCE data collection software.

I am using carlson tablets with my leica TS16 and geomax zoom 90 robots. Honestly there is not much difference since you are using carlson as a data collection. The added benefit of TS16 is the filter learn where in urban areas or areas with lots of prisms around. it learns to ignore them. In terms of tracking, as long as you are getting TS15 onwards and geomax 80 the tracking are quite similar.?ÿ

For pricing, geomax, i did not have to purchase additional licenses. Just the robot and RH handle. Leica I had to get the geocom ontop of the RH Handle for it to connect with SurvPC. I went with getting RH handles and not fiddle with Parani external bluetooth radios just for the ease of working.?ÿ

contractually stuck or??ÿ i have a TS16 and had a 15 and a 12 before that.?ÿ i'll only ever use a small fraction of what it's capable of.?ÿ typical solid build, mechanically sound, once you get used to the particulars of it you'll be as efficient as you ever were.?ÿ i know what causes most people frustration up front is reacquiring prism lock in thick stuff, because it lacks an active prism.?ÿ but again- i personally didn't find the learning curve on manually searching to be very bad.?ÿ once you're proficient there... game over.

i just got a second robot- a carlson, which... is a geomax, which... is a leica.?ÿ that's why i ask.?ÿ it's a TS16 for all practical purposes (or maybe a 15, idk, doesn't matter).?ÿ been wearing it in pretty heavily the last couple weeks and no surprises.?ÿ the only thing i've had to adjust to is using carlson DC software, but that's not a big deal at all since i'm already a carlson drafter, and i've used it in the past.?ÿ and the seamlessness of dumping a CRD file straight into cad is... well, if it ain't heaven it'll do until heaven gets here.

if you're a leica guy (which i've been, exclusively, for the past decade), there's nothing that will disappoint you with a TS16. and if you can manage to bring yourself to go geomax/carlson, you'll save some $.

ed: also, for whatever this is worth- there are currently about 900 skyscrapers going up here downtown.?ÿ the number of TS16s mounted to nearby structures doing monitoring work while all these go up is... pretty staggering once you start noticing them.

Although, I would like it if the software geniuses would make it so it could tell the difference between a circle prism and a 360 hourglass.?ÿ It'd be nice to not end up with a handful of mistake topo shots on the BS

My first one lasted ONLY 18 years. DO NOT BUY ONE, unless you like using old stuff. Buy the BT handle, I have gotten used to not shooting beyond 1600'. If you only do stakeout and topo, you don't need a TS16, a TS13 will be fine.?ÿ

@mike-shepp?ÿ Not being able to fine tune some of the firmware varibles, like in the past, is my only complaint with the TS13.

Is an old model with no warranty, can anyone explain me the differences with Leica TCRP series? Also cam I worked it with trimble controller tcs3?

I have two geomax zoom 80s (Carlson CR2s) and 1 TS15.

We do like the Leica instrument better. They are vert similar, but leica feels a little sturdier

Is the TS15 worth $6k. YES. Hell yes.?ÿ

can you run it with Trimble. No.

TCRP units are older than the TS series guns. They are both top tier instruments for their time.?ÿ

A Tsc3 running Carlson can be used with a TS15 however you need to have a extended geocom license on the TS15 unlocked and a long range Bluetooth handle RH16 or RH17.

$6000 for a TS15 & CS15, no ?ÿ
