And real pilots, like real surveyors, state: there's no way a professional can function with a misconception like flat.
It's only because youtube is free. Put some money on the line and it wouldn't be. I've never met a flattie in person.
I met one last summer at my company's big international user conference. He worked for a public utility/infrastructure organization. Very nice man, but there was no point in trying to argue with him.
Did a quick search on this....there is 30 minutes of my life gone.

You geodesists sure have wasted a lot of everyone's time over the last 500 years with your differential and projective geometry. Turns out the earth already is a developable surface! Joke's on you!

Actually, it's more like 2,300 years!

Hmmm...My Ranger with TDS software came with the 'correct for earth curvature' toggle box...unchecked...coincidence?? I THINK NOT!!

Shhhhh, don't let the secret out. Do you want people to find out how surveyors conspire to keep the flat earth hidden?

Here in Arkansas, we KNOW the earth is not flat. In fact, it's real bumpy. We even have places for "run away trucks", on some Ozark Hills.
But, some of those folks from Kansas, and Oklahoma, I can see where they might fall off the edge...
One of 'em fell off, an landed in Austin. I am concerned he mighta hit his head, cause he posts funny stuff, but, he loves everybody, best he can. Keeps sendin out "best regards".
That's what happens when somebody gets too close to the edge...an falls off.
We all bein careful. It scared me real bad one time, just lookin over the edge.
Ya'all be safe!
Many dangers out there, 'an bestest regards to all!

Ps iff'n ya think the earth is flat, maybe ya should visit Colorado. At'll put ya straight. Mmm hmmm
I know precisely where the edge of the Earth is on it's westerly side. It's a couple miles west of Hays, Kansas.

Yes, it is. And something to be enjoyed as well.
I wonder if it's lucrative to be an Engineer and kind of the FE Society's "Guru". Especially if you aren't that good of an Engineer, and have trouble making it in the Engineering trade. I suspect the FE Soc. will pay big bucks to get an Engineer in there to say what they want to hear.
a video recap of the conference...I love the lady at the end..

Just remember. before the advent of GPS we were all "Flat Earthers!" At least, I measured all my distances horizontally 🙂
Flat Earther = Cadastral Surveyor !!

That maybe the case in your part of the world.
But here Down Under our cadastral surveys have had to be corrected for earth curvature since the start of the Torrens title system.
There are so called surveyors ( ha ! ) out there proclaiming they believe the earth is flat. How do they explain their reciprocal zenith angles in only a few hundred feet sum to greater than 180 degrees?
