That could be worth the $17 for some online entertainment. But you wouldn't get the same effect as actually being there to watch the guests in person.

Quite a bit of the online response to flatties could be worth credits. Numbers, formulae, diagrams, some very good ones. Flatties blow them off. But sometimes a creative way to show how visibly curved the earth can be fun, kind of like trig leveling.

I arrived early to get a good seat.

No, trig leveling I took up as a cause to promote in the 90s as I learned it from my friend Charlie Glover. Trying to help flatearthers on my YT channel has become a fun hobby.

Interesting they are using a countdown clock on the groups website, counting down to the conference. Isn't using the normal mode/theory behind that clock contradictory to their beliefs?

Agreed, there's no point arguing with them. I don't do it. But I do enjoy posting geodetic triangulation I like doing on the weekends. This whole flatearth thing prompted my curisosty to find places I could easily see the earths curvature and so I've posted pictures taken through my T2 looking at the empire state building 41 miles away from the Fire Island Lighthouse and others like the Philly skyline from Apple Pie Hill 34 miles away. There's no arguing. These flatearthers have an answer for everything, even pictures like mine. I just hate to see some so called 'surveyors' like the one in this picture proclaiming the earth is flat spreading around the web with the hashtag "fraudulent surveyors ". It's nuts.

Yep. And there's lots of them. That flat earth conference has an engineer speaking there. I've encountered a bunch of surveyor s on facebook saying they believe the earth is flat, which supplies this group of zombies all the ammo they need.

Flatties also cite "professional airline pilots" with 'absolutely flat' testimonials.

And real pilots, like real surveyors, state: there's no way a professional can function with a misconception like flat.

It's only because youtube is free. Put some money on the line and it wouldn't be. I've never met a flattie in person.

I glanced at some discussion on the FE site, and it wasn't obvious to me how many really believe it and how many think it's fun to bait people into useless argument.

I've wondered the same, how many actually believe it. Judging by the MANY thousands in all the hundreds of Facebook groups devoted to it, I'd say it's growing. I mean, how do you hold a conference like the one their having in November listing 8 flatearth gurus speaking and one of them a professional engineer ? If you pay some attention to this, you'll soon see it's not something to be dismissed.
