Does anyone use this app?

I'm having a tough time with it.

The other day (when I really needed it), I could find the control point but couldn't activate the NGS sheet, despite many tries.

Most of the time I poke the symbol, I get a "No Survey Control Points found" message.

When I can finally get that to work and the sheet displayed, the screen seems split into the sheet and the brown previous background. When I turn the phone sideways, it gets worse.

Seems like the little "i" symbol is hard to hit too.

I just pulled it up here where I am sitting. Works a okay. None of the trouble you just mentioned.

I use this as a secondary tool, when I strike out on the ten sheets I printed out from DSWORLD in Google Earth before I leave the office.

I've had the exact same problem. Just be persistent and it will eventually work. it might take ten tries, but it will go.

I use the iPhone version and find that it works fine, almost every time.

There have been a couple of instances when it was kinda goofy, as you mentioned, but those problems were signal strength related, in my case.

When I have good coverage, it works great.

JA, PLS SoCal

I used it for a while but had the same tapping issues on my android phone. Switched to saving the kml files from DSWorld to my phone/dropbox and opening them with the Google Earth App, works a lot smoother. Could be pain to make sure all the kml files are saved and up to date for all the areas you work in. I don't work too far outside my area so I only have 3 counties to keep track of so it not too bad for me.

Earth Survey

http://www.metzgerwillard.us/mobile/mobile.html

Way better than the Find-A-Control app.

They also have some other really awesome programs. The PLSS one is really handy.

I think so too! But then, I'm prejudiced.

NGSCS-m, more than any other Earth Survey tool, has the potential to be sorely abused. Please be considerate of your fellow surveyors and the National Geodetic Survey's very limited resources. Avoiding unnecessary view changes (panning and zooming) and clearing the map when not in use will help ensure the availability of this tool. The NGS has blocked my server on more than one occasion, and I get kinda sweaty when that happens.

Thank you.

I use it on my iPhone with few problems. Now that DSWORLD won't run properly with Civil3D it's the best thing I've found.

Earth Survey

I just tried it, and I agree. Much faster.

I'm not sure I like GE mobile all that well, but oh well.

Look into getting a fine tip stylus that's compatible with touch screens, amazon.com sells them.
