Carlson BRx7

I’ve never been a Topcon fan. They used to be cheaper than the alternatives, now they haven’t even got that. I expect that you will be much happier now that you have something else.

I was tired of seeing autonomous appear on my data collector screen under light tree cover. It cost me many frustrating hours of lost time. Supposedly, the county has purchased a special feature for the BRx7 named Listen Listen. It is described as follows: Carlson Listen Listen is a cloud-based, low latency annual RTK subscription service, which sends RTK corrections to your Carlson base and rover via multiple cellular networks. We normally use only AT&T. However, in certain parts of the county we experience connection problems.

except we have a leica rtn base station streaming L1 and L2 and now L5 corrections since 2001 through a static ip to our rtk receivers.  First to market and still working.  Base will be decommissioned end of this year.  

for me, first to work first to market - sometimes takes understanding and effort to make work.

I get it that there are many horror stories about vendors selling shells of equipment hoping it will work.  Those vendors get rooted out.

So true for Leica Equipment.

I ran a Topcon GPT-3005 for a long time and it was a great instrument.

We've been running a Brx7 since right after they were introduced. Mostly as a network rover. I've had mostly good results under canopy. To me, the most important thing is that it doesn't lie to me. Some other brands/models tell you they are fixed but when you check the point later, you find it quite a bit out of tolerance. I have not been able to get a fix every time under canopy, but when it says fixed it is telling the truth. With Brx7s as base and rover, under light to moderate canopy, I get accuracy that comes very close to what I see with a robot.
