Sounds like good thinking to me. They apparently want self employed, self starters and not the typical employe of today.

I can see that to a point. But whose to say that you do that and then after 'your' project is done they don't just lay you off. It just seems very, very fishy to me. Especially if you brought 'them' work.
I know a few that have that used that as their company model.
They are licensed. However, they hire people to do the actual work, even another licensed person to sign the work to them and then sign it to the client.
It is like, I got a company, come and do everything for me, I've got other things to do (with all the money you make me)

Anyone self employed and working on their own project should have enough smarts to look out for themselves, if the don't, they would not be put on the payroll anyway. Still sounds like a good weeding tool to me.

Doh!....but if someone is a strong, self-starter and a principal in their own firm and able to get their own clients.....they don't need a job do they?
Yeah, I don't like it. They might as well say "looking for people to steal clients for there existing employer to come work for me".
Did not see any hint of wanting anyone working on a project for someone else, I did see an invitation for people that are self employed and discouraging anyone working for others or unemployed. Nothing wrong in what they are asking, it remains the obligation for anyone responding to check them out for their own protection and anyone practicing under their own license has that ability. Not good for the unemployed or those who require being under the protection and direction of others for their security, they are in the majority though.

jud, I agree with you. In know that as a self employed soloist, one of my main markets is trying to work for larger engineering firms. Not so much as an employee, but I'd entertain the concept.
It seems these guys want somebody who knows what they're doing that they don't really have to train. I'm not so sure about using craigslist as the resource tool though. If they weren't in Duluth I'd call them. Still may, beats the heck out of North Dakota
