I received some data apparently from a TDS software (that is what is in the .job file). The jxl file has a note that says "created by version 5.8.1,?ÿ Ranger3". I am not at all familiar with this.?ÿ
They are using a VRS, and each time the DC creates a point called VRS1, then stores the vector (a couple of decimeters to meters in length) from that point. They go to the next point, create a new file, and it creates another point called VRS1 (with different coordinates, of course) and the process repeats.?ÿ
I really want data that is stored as a vector from the nearest physical CORS (this is what Trimble Survey controller and Trimble Access does). Is that possible to configure? At the least, I definitely do not want every (virtual) base point to have the same name. Trying to import this data into TBC or any other software is a problem because all of the bases are named the same.?ÿ

I've not used a VRS with TDS on it but am using a Trimble VRS rental unit for the first time.?ÿ In the Trimble unit it appears to make a base point near the job but is a few thousand feet away and all the vectors are from this imaginary base point.?ÿ?ÿ All the shots are just using this one base point though, not a new one each time.?ÿ I would think there is a way to make TDS do the same thing but I'm not sure.?ÿ
This is what VRS is suppose to do, not just use a base line from one point such as a CORS station.
My experience with Trimble Access doing VRS work, like Dave, is that is creates a virtual base usually a few thousand meters from the point being surveyed, but not at a CORS. And it stays with that base as long as you remain in the general vicinity.?ÿ I haven't done VRS with Survey Pro.
I don't really have a answer to John's question, but just wanted to confirm that we have our VRS rovers set up to store a vector back to the closest physical base station.?ÿ It functions the same in that the VRS base is exactly that - virtual and nearby - but the vector components are calculated and saved to a physical base station in the VRS network.?ÿ It is an option in Access.
After further investigation, I have been told that is the only way it works, and it ALWAYS names the base VRS1, VRS2, etc in a file. Start a new job/file, it starts over at VRS1.?ÿ
Seems very strange and problematic to me. Makes me really appreciate Trimble Access/Survey Controller.?ÿ
