We have a new project that is near an old project of ours that we did 16 years ago.  The old project has several .T01 Static files i'd like to bring into the new project.  However, TBC no longer supports .T01 files.  Does anyone have any way of converting these old files to a format useable in TBC?  We searched around a bit but nothing we found worked.

Wow, that is pretty bad. Only Trimble would make their current software non-backwards compatible with their own hardware.  Have you tried converting them to Rinex files?  It has been a bit since I used the yellow stuff but they did have a stand-alone convert utility at one point.

It appears they do have an online converter. Survey Tools.

All our old .T01 static files have long been processed. So we aren't trying to use them anymore, however, won't TBC convert them to RINEX, then they might be usable for processing. Not sure that would work and you've probably tried it, but it's all I can think of.

I've seen mentioned here before a command line utility from UNAVCO called runpkr00 which will convert these files to .dat.  trimble should still support the dat files, and if not I'm sure there's something that will convert .dat to RINEX.

Thanks for the replies.  @john-putnam the survey tools is just an OPUS interface, these are 20-30 minute static ties to primary control.

Trimble made it very well known about the lack of backward compatibility many years ago.  We converted all our OLD TGO files but these were external and we missed them.

We tried the Rinex and was able to get it imported but it would not allow processing.

@bobwesterman thanks for that info. Command line exe files are not friendly with our IT department.  I might try that one at home.

You can use TECQ to convert to Rinex, but last time I looked at it it was a command line program.  It's what OPUS uses and is available for download from UNAVCO.  A rinex file should be able to process on most software depending on the version of Rinex output you use.

@wa-id-surveyor

I find it hard to believe that TBC will not process a Rinex file.  Did you include the Obs (##O) file as well as the navigation file (##N)?

I was thinking the same thing, then it dawned on me.  Chalk it up to operator error.  The Rinex files worked!

I'm with @mountainhermit on this if you don't find something built in somewhere.

Use Trimble's Convert to RINEX (CtR) to create the ASCII file (eg, *.18o).

I'm using CtR v3.1.5.0 and it converts .t01's, but make sure you set the output to RINEX v2.11 or less

Go to UNAVCO, get teqc.exe (and the tutorial for reference), place your t01 in the folder with teqc and run a command line at that location like this one on the .??o file to process it for upload to OPUS:

 c:\teqc\teqc -O.dec 30 -O.obs L1+L2+C1 <filename>.18o > <filename>_post.18o

Load the "good" ??o file, <filename>_post.18o, into OPUS

I'm glad they worked for you, it's something I would do with older files; haven't done it for a few years so good to hear it's still a workaround.

I don't believe that is true, I just processed .t01 files from 2005 and 2009 with no problem in TBC. Many times I have reprocessed old data with new and have never had a case where TBC did not process. I used to only download .dat files, not .t01, so going back further in time, maybe there is a problem. But 2005 was 20 years ago, you said yours were 16 years old. The files from 2005 were from data I got from a client that wanted to have a project bluebooked and submitted to NGS.

Also, there is a trimble utility runpkr00 (I have version 5.40 from 2012) that will convert a .T0? file to a .tgd and .dat. I also ran the 2005 files through a current convert to rinex and that also was no problem.
