Hello all, new guy from New Hampshire with some issues that I hope someone may shed some light on. I recently updated my Carlson SurvPC from 6.06 to the newest 6.09 update. Being a longtime (decade+) Carlson user, the program has never changed dramatically throughout the years, updates and versions. Basically, new equipment gets added, old equipment gets removed and known issues get addressed throughout the updates.
Today, I was stunned. My gnss base and rover manufacturer was completely scrubbed from the supported equipment in 6.09. Last year, I rented a CHC i80 base and rover package for a job and it worked so well and consistently, I decided to purchase it rather than return the rental. It was one of the most productive equipment purchases that I have ever made. Now, CHC is gone from SurvPC.?ÿ
I called Carlson's support center that is located close to me in Watertown Massachusetts. The person that I spoke to gave me the "sorry for your troubles" routine and confirmed that Carlson no longer supports CHC. No explanation, no advice, just a quick mention that Carlson supports and supplies their own hardware now. Great equipment, I'm sure, but it's just rebranded Hemisphere stuff.
Anyone have advice on what to do next? Drop Carlson like they dropped me? (at least that's how I feel) Swallow the hardest pill and purchase new gnss equipment that Carlson approves of? Downgrade back to an older version of SurvPC? BTW, Carlson removed all of the previous versions from the download site. 6.09 is the only thing offered for download now. Anyone have access to a previous version download?
?ÿ
Sorry for the rambling. I've been a really happy customer for a long time and I feel personally wronged by this. I'll get through it, just wondering what others may be doing about it.
?ÿ
Thanks in advance.
Sounds like they are following the Autodesk route, hence why I have never used either product nor ever will.
Try loading Carlson 2021. It won't work on a 32 bit computer only works on 64 bit machines.
This is DC software on a tablet that I run my robot and gnss base/rover package with, not the desktop program. For data collection, it is a standard run of the mill program. For staking, I haven't used anything as good in 25+ years. I'm not, nor ever have been, unhappy with the program itself. I just can't believe they would dump previously supported newer equipment without any warning or advice to remedy the issue.
It looks like the also dropped the iG8's
I is pretty concerning - as I am sure there are alot of folks here that went to Carlson specifically because it worked with so many different colors of equip.
As a solo operator who has used Survce for 15+ years this concerning. In my opinion most smaller shops used this so you could mix and match whichever equipment you preferred, and more so what was in the budget...I won't be upgrading for a while if this is the case!
I am forbidden from making a comment without approval.
If you call me, I will answer any question that you might have.
I have been using survce since version 2 and currently have about 5 licenses. It is incredibly disappointing on Carlson's part to abandon it's loyal users. There is no announcement on why they have stopped support for CHC receivers.
We have use a X91+ From Mark for several years using VRS and was thinking about adding a new head and using the X91 as the base, but Carlson 6.09 dropped CHC so what do we do? After all the videos Mark put out using Carlson Survce helping Carlson users learn localization and other Carlson help videos I think that is bad! I have a Carlson Survce printed manual I bought from Carlson's Website , because I am an old timer and like to read printed text from a paper book, not online. Guess I'll never update from 6.08 so I can still use my x91. Hope things are changed, just does not seem right. Also updated to the RT4 with 6.08 with TS, Robotics, GPS, thru Mark and now this, makes me mad.
I am using the google translator. I think I can help you with the SURVPC version 6.05 / 6.07 installer, which are the ones I keep on my PC. Write to me at [email protected] to provide you with a Mega link to download it.
Note: I would appreciate the help of a colleague who can provide me with the SURVPC version 6.04 installer
Two years ago, a commercial made me an offer for a RTS and a CHCNav i90. I didn't took the GPS. ??? Ouf.
@mark-silver?ÿ ?ÿ That's too bad, Mark. You're the very person whose comments on this we would love to hear. But I very much understand. You should have your own forum.
Be slow to update.
We never updated the one time we had a properly working version of Fieldgenius on our Leica conventional instrument.?ÿ
Lately I'm always updating because I figure it can't get any worse than what I have. I could very well be wrong though. Lol.
If I could figure out a way to run my Leica robot with Trimble access....

@350rocketmike?ÿ ?ÿWhich is why I use 1990's software on my new Leica Robot.
@dougie?ÿ
It has options for other brands total stations including several leica's, one of our crews is already trying to switch to using it with their Leica TCR805. It actually has their model listed and the Leica 1100 robot but not my 1200.?ÿ

Relations must be getting better; back in the day, they did not play well together...
