Did they unscrew the gun from the tripod, or take it tripod and all? Would the outcome have been any different if the gun had been cabled and locked to the tripod, and the tripod cabled and locked to a fixed object?

I rarely leave my robot without cabling and locking it at least to the tripod, and often to a larger object as well. Unfastening the tripod head screw isn't going to be enough if you want to steal my gun. You need to bring tools, and the right ones at that.

They took the whole thing in less than 5 seconds. Thanks, will def. utilize better methodology. We usually have armed escort but that was supposed to be a two hour job so we went in on our own.

Armed escort, that's some serious surveying. I don't think I'd find that very relaxing...

When it gets so bad, that thieves grab and dash in front of you, well, it's time to find a more amiable environment!

I have experienced a receiver growing legs a few times in the last 25 years, sometimes you get lucky, BUT usually not, file a police report, call your insurance and order a new one in about that order.

StL is full of bad places. A general rule I use is...Would I be comfortable working there alone? If my thoughts are no, then I am not sending my people or equipment there period. If an armed guard is in question I am seriously in the wrong place.

Sorry to hear your story, I can only imagine how the crew must have felt afterwards - sounds like they were lucky a few rounds weren't popped off.

Sadly we have gotten to this point where we want more distance from the robot and less help to gain profit and now have to deal with thievery or total lockdown. Sorry for your loss. I even worry in my remote locations.

sent unknown location by me

I'm getting to the point that I'm not interested in working in dangerous areas. We did a job a couple of years ago in a bad part of Memphis. Very small commercial site, probably a quarter of an acre. The next day I saw a news report from the site. A dead body was found in the parking lot.

Oh, and I got stiffed on the bill, also.

Yep, and I seem to remember you wanting to do it solo. Aren't you glad I tagged along???

Could've purchased it seperately. No case, shipping from NW Miami. Who knows.

I rarely leave my robot without cabling and locking it at least to the tripod, and often to a larger object as well. Unfastening the tripod head screw isn't going to be enough if you want to steal my gun. You need to bring tools, and the right ones at that.

Jim: how do you attach ("cable") the robot to the tripod?
