If you don't like it, don't read it. I, for one, enjoy intelligent conversation with intelligent adults. Everyone on this site are for the most part well educated and well spoken. The problem with the other sites are that there are just too many "children" that play tough because they are behind a keyboard. It is sometimes nice to talk about more than just surveying at times.

I'm curious to see what the "prognosticators" have to say now also......

With you Neil, those who complain yet leave P&R on show more about their character than they realize. Those who abuse P&R and display the intent to insult and shame those who hold other views should always be banned from the whole board, no exceptions.

In theory, yes, your post makes a lot of sense.

Here's the reality: They don't listen. I tell them, tell them again and then tell them what I told them and guess what? They still won't do it. You could then argue that it is their problem. But it really isn't -- it becomes my problem because I'm the one that gets hammered with all the BS. So while I totally agree with your theory, it sadly does not work that way in reality.

There is an amazingly good chance that it will stay gone. My life has been quite delightful since turning it off. I'm actually getting that warm, fuzzy feeling back about this site that I had back in July 2010 when I first opened the doors. That feeling was pretty much gone up until I turned P&R off.

Funny you say that. I missed P&R for a couple days than started enjoying life without it. There are wonderful things in life to learn about and discuss with others. With P & R enabled, the same old arguments get thrown back and forth in a downward sprial of civility. It divides us, it raises our blood pressures and is generally not positive. Let the political wonks fight it out, become informed and vote your conscience. Don't let Politics divide you from your family, friends and peers.

Thank you. It is indeed a pain. I know there will still be the posts that pretend to be non-political but really are political without being obvious, and I'll have to deal with those. There were a few of those last night and this morning, actually, and I didn't ban anyone, but I will in the future.

It's funny how people get so desperate that they have to post something in disguise. But I can assure you, if they keep that up, they will have a permanent disguise of invisibility, if you know what I mean.

Running a Romper Room is not for the faint of heart and, quite frankly, I'm just not up to the task. I may let offenders bother me more than I should, but that's probably because of my emotional attachment to this place. It's like fixing up the dream car you always wanted and then having some jerk key the side of it -- it really pisses you off! So the dream car may be missing one small feature you planned on implementing, but once you get used to it, you realize it's not as important as you once thought.

LOL I don't miss it at all. But I do see your point. I kept it for so long because I wanted desperately for it to work out. But I just don't have the time or patience to put up with the nonsense that comes along with it.

I hope that this makes the site stronger, even if traffic were to dip a little bit. I'm thinking quality over quantity at this point.
