The legendary OSU Survey Law workshop is back! This is the second or third year back. If you work in surveying in Oregon or seeking licensure here, this is the class to take!
February 20-21 (sorry about the short notice)
Here is a flyer:

I took this class prior to licensure and it was amazing! It made taking the Oregon-specific test a breeze.
I took this, and its follow on 2nd workshop, back in '97. I can't see how I would have passed the Oregon test if I hadn't. Furthermore, the set up helped my immensely when studying for the Washington and Oklahoma tests years later. This will be different without Professor Schultz guiding things but the format is well established.
Can anyone tell me if this class is offered every year, multiple times a year, or every so many years?
I am interested but not sure if I can make it right now. Thank you.
It is currently offered twice a year before each of the exam dates.
For many years it has been a once a year thing, I believe. I'm not sure when it started but it was a well established tradition when I took it in '97. It went on apace until recently. I think that it has been on hiatus for a few years - Professor Shultz' retirement and COVID, etc..... I suppose the future will depend on the reception it gets.
I still have my 3 ring binder notebook from when I took the class in 1989. The handouts included all the pertinent statutes, case law research examples and briefs on precedent setting court cases. Great and timeless stuff that I've referred to in the ensuing 36 years. There was a lead-in class offered back then, like Oregon Law 1 or some such, which I took in '86 prior to taking the LSIT. Both were paramount in my self-educated journey to getting my LS. The schedule that Messrs. Glantz and Simpson are following seems like what Schutz did and I wish them, and their students, well.
The reason this class worked so well was that Prof. Shultz wrote (I believe) the exam that we all had to take for Licensure.
Prof. Shultz wrote (I believe) the exam
That may be a bit overstated, but he was certainly on the committee that did the job.
Greatest thanks to the OP on this. Had never heard of this workshop although I am signed up for the Oregon exam in April.
I signed up on faith as soon as I saw this post and drove down by midnight the night before so as not to miss it. It was amazing. I am feeling much more confident about the exam now and I know what I need to study in the meantime.
I was unable to attend the class, but ordered the course materials. Even without attending I found the binder very helpful.
I'll pass on the advice that had the most impact for me. Organize your materials the same way when studying as you will have them during the exam. Never change that arrangement and keep your feet moving. The test is very broad and you will need references at some point. Being able to find information will get you through the test and serve you well in practice.
Good fortune to you!
