I was cleaning out our old office yesterday and found this beauty. Remember as I was taught, you only get two chances to do this without a solar filter. Once with the left eye and once with the right eye. Enjoy.

That's very cool. I note that it is the vertical angle method, which did not require accurate time but was influenced by refraction and errors in the vertical angle. This was because back when it was written it was difficult to get accurate time. But still a good method for ±1' of arc
