Louisville Army Corps is looking for surveyors.?ÿ See attached brochure.?ÿ Depending on the applicant, they would be willing to hire in the GS 07-09 or GS 11 pay scale.

If you are a young surveyor that likes to travel and see the country, this could be a great job for you!?ÿ (Note that I am not discriminating by not mentioning the "olde" surveyors!)

If I was 30 years younger it would be a fun ride.

@dmyhill When you consider the median home price in Kentucky is around 170k vs. 350k in Washington, 550k in California, leaving out taxes....the question then becomes, not how much you make but how far your money will go.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

If you get west of the cascades, double or triple that $350k for a home. ($828k in Seattle right now)

?ÿ

170/85= 2 times salary

850/2= (I am not making 425K in WA)

It does make some sense.

If you have cash you might be able to find a tumbledown fixer upper bungalow in Portland for $350k. It's going to take $500k to get something you can live in.

Seeing as it's 100% travel, I would assume that there is a lot of per diem going in the bank and very low living expenses.?ÿ Not the gig for a family man, but pretty fun for a young'un.

I started my survey career with the Corps as a survey tech. No experience, no knowledge of surveying at all. I was a GS-3. Young, single, living at parents still. Fun job. It was mostly travel within 150 miles or so Monday to Friday. Always home by Friday afternoon.

I had taken a general "engineering tech" exam and they contacted me.?ÿ
