Which Javad unit do I purchase this week, assuming I want a base - rover setup and their latest multi constellation multi-engine hardware ?

I'm sure Matt will give you all the lowdown on it, but I think you're going to want to upgrade to the LS+ (vs the plain LS) for your rover if you're working in canopy.?ÿ I started with the plain LS and it was a noticeable, significant performance increase when I upgraded my old unit to an LS+.?ÿ I know it's a lot more money, but it's worth it if you're in the trees - you'll make up the money in time saved waiting for fixes.
As for bases receivers, I've used the Triumph 2, Triumph 1M, and Triumph 3.?ÿ They were all great (the T-1M had Bluetooth range issues that p*ssed me off though).?ÿ The T2 is older, but still an amazing value for what it can do... I'm not sure it has all the latest constellations though.?ÿ
If you've got the money for it, the T-3 is the latest and greatest.?ÿ I don't care for the form factor of it and the LED's are difficult to read, but it's the best tech.

I have the LS+ and the Triumph 3 and I am very happy with this combination. If RTPK is still a separate option I recommend it as well.

You've caused me to go to Javad's website, where they are good enough to clearly list their prices. Which is refreshing, I must say. But I am holding a quote on a pair of BRx7s, with data collector, that is right there in the same price range. And that DC will probably run your TS as well. Just sayin'.?ÿ
(I posted this comment to another thread yesterday by mistake)?ÿ
I have a Leica 1200, obviously old, and no spare parts. If I don't retire then eventually I'll need something new. The latest Leica has all sorts of bells and whistles on the rover and the rod, which are of no interest to me and more like a distraction. I don't need anything fancy, just RTK with simple keyboard input like, "b ss...e ss, or pp mn2." Whatever I get I'll want the best because I see it as a money machine.
I've watched the Javad video demonstration and it looks like the rover is a large cube on a fixed rod, with the input on the cube. Is that correct? How much does the cube weigh, and is an extendable rod (because of the cube input) out of the question? Roughly, how much $$$ is the best Javad?
Thanks,

@bruce-small The rover and data collector are combined into one unit.?ÿ The weight it is similar to the combined weight of a Trimble R-10 and TSC 3 controller, so on the pole you're carrying about the same weight.
I use a Seco rod with three locking points, there's one on there that leaves the screen directly at eye level.?ÿ But with a short thread adapter you can put the Javad on whatever pole you want.
So with the pole at 8' how do you manipulate the controls on the receiver? Or do you just not?
So with the pole at 8' how do you manipulate the controls on the receiver? Or do you just not?
You use an app that runs on any Android device (IOS is in the works).?ÿ It connects to the receiver via Bluetooth and provides a picture-perfect emulation of the receiver screen.?ÿ It's very slick.
@norman-oklahoma I just went with the Carlson BRx7's but I did research Javad. I believe you can set everything in the collector and then set a timer to give you enough time to raise/plumb the rod and it beeps when finished.

@norman-oklahoma You can't directly run it if it's 8' up unless you're Manute Bol or someone, but you can use the phone app, which mirrors the controller screen and controls.?ÿ Alternatively, you can set it to delay the start of shooting by however many seconds you want, giving you time to plumb up the rod over the point.?ÿ The LED on the underside flashes to let you know it's working or when it's done - and the regular sounds too, of course.
A third method is to set up a preset where it automatically takes a shot when the receiver is perceived to be plumb (assuming you've calibrated the tilt sensors).?ÿ That's pretty slick for taking a series of shots on the same thing like a stream or trail centerline.
As a user, I would recommend the LS plus/T3 combo so that you can use all of the constellations and add RTPK and perhaps TCP connection if you generally work in an area with decent cell reception.?ÿ Not having limitations in base distance (within 10-12 miles) is very handy.?ÿ At first I was somewhat skeptical about RTPK but found it to be a great check on shots and without it, my workflow would be slower.?ÿ Time is money.?ÿ I like to be fast and light and with the included collapsible rod, there is simply no easier way to get through the brush than with a small box on a one foot stick tucked under your arm.?ÿ One thing I cannot speak to from experience, is the J-tip but have hopes that Santa Claus will bring me one this Christmas. It is a metal detector that attaches to the bottom of the pole and connects to the LS via bluetooth.?ÿ I have seen it work and seems fantastic and very much streamlines your equipment needs.?ÿ If they could incorporate a shovel into the unit, it would be the bee's knees.
The LS screen can be accessed via cell phone or computer for remote operation when turned on.?ÿ A friend of mine got a unit recently and his field guy had remote access turned on and wasn't completely familiar with the unit yet.?ÿ While he was in the field, we had a grand time watching his screen from a sports bar and every now and again literally pushing his buttons.?ÿ He couldn't figure out what was going on for a while but he finally shut off remote access and killed our fun.
