I wonder what happen to some of the people from the old RPLS forum, I would like to see some of them revived here on surveyor connect, some of them...not so much.

Who is on your list?

I would like to hear from Pat May and many others that sadly many that I am probably starting to forget their names.

Let's have a stroll down memory lane:coffee: , who should come on over to surveyor connect and who is good riddance?

I miss Jobo.

And If I could get rid of me, I would. Too much of me would scare me!

I miss Ms. Otchingwanigan's slant on things. Never one to mince her words...

She had a unique post script on her profile. I hope I remember it correctly:

"Build a fire for a man and keep him warm for a night. Set him on fire and keep him warm for the rest of his life." ... or something like that.

I first surfed rpls.com in 1995 and I have been posting since 1999... does that count?

I've been wondering about Jobo too. He was always a stabilizing influence on the board. Of course there's Nearly Normal. I think I have an old email address to the real guy someplace. I'll try and ask him if he's been lurking here under a different name or what. I don't know if this would be considered an old school peep, I know I'm not, but Abe Taylor is a guy that I miss. He has a great sense of humor and a practical outlook on surveying and besides that, he nominated me for SOTW, remember that thing?

Is MLB still a contributor to POB? I go over there to their social networking site every so often and he's still there. If it's a loyalty thing, I guess I can respect that but the pickins are mighty slim as far as responses. I must admit that lately from what I've seen the threads are of more of a survey-oriented nature than they are over here, but boring in my opinion.

Dave

That's really sad. Was that widely known on the old board? I don't remember hearing about it. I'm bummed out.

Yes, some of the RPLS.com contributors have gone "pro" and I'm sure that their contracts prohibit them from posting on such renegade sites as this.
Jobo was one of the guys I always wanted to meet and my sister lived in Oly... my bad!

Dave!

Is that true about Jobo? How come there was no mention about such a fine man and dean of surveying on RPLS?

We did not even get a chance to pay our respects.

I can all but guarantee that Jobo is alive and well. In fact, I just heard from him a few days ago.

No, he is alive and well. I just heard from him a few days ago. I'll ask him if he can come and check in so everyone knows he's still tickin' strong!

This is kind of bizarre. I was standing at a urinal earlier today and had this overwhelming déjà vu moment thinking about Jobo. Just made me smile... 🙂

Jobo is one guy that I just have to meet. What a rock. I sure do miss him.

JB, you and I and everyone else, should've pitched in $20 to get him to your house and I'd have paid $100 to have the "bar maid" serve him whatever he wanted!
