I don't believe there was a sidewalk involved -- it was a rural road intersection, as I recall. I think he was on the shoulder looking for/at a benchmark on a culvert headwall when a truck and trailer cut the turn too close and bumped him into the ditch. It boogered his back up pretty good for a time; I don't know if he has any lingering effects.
