Have an alignment provided by the architects of a new charter school and the PM wants centerline staked so they can punch a road in to drill a well. Going through it, a dozen curves, compound, .1' tangents, having trouble getting the numbers to work, until realizing every curve was anywhere from 15-30" off being radial.
Why? Just why???!
We return you now to your regular programming.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

I usually fix em and send a copy to the architect to comment on (or not) prior to survey.
Here is my pretty picture, please make it work.
The fact is that they are paid to come up with ideas, sometimes wild ideas, and we are paid to make them work. Rejoice in it. It's why we get the big money.
Yep, just stating the fact.
Back when i just got out of high school and was working for a plumber I went to a girls house for dinner. I really liked here.
Her father asked what i did for work and I naturally said, "Oh, I work in plumbing and heating". His reply, "Oh I work with you guys a lot, I'm an architect." At that point in my life I really had no filters so my reply, "Oh you're the guys that always wants to put a 3x5 tub in a 2x4 hole" did not set well.
But to this day still see that kinda stuff ! I hope she's doing well. 🤣
The problem I've run into with these "plans" are the violations of ADA and other codes and requirements. Be careful taking on re-design of these pictures. You sometimes need a Civil on speed dial to deal with them.

You have an uncanny ability to distill an issue to one sinccinct statement 🙄
It is not just the other professions in the AEC food chain. I followed a newly legalized (about a month old at the time) road where the surveyor created numerous broken back curves. For god's sake, all this guy need to do was best fit an alignment down the centerline of an old broken up asphalt roadway. Better yet, he did not even bother noting the lack of tangency on the map or descriptions.

This is the sort of thing that drives me nuts. I'd go for reporting this sort of crap to the board, except I know they wouldn't be able to do anything about it. When a so-called professional gets something from a planner or architect he is supposed to fix those sorts of things- not just memorialize the planners shortages in knowledge. Here at the city I work with a roomful of planners and believe me creating geometrically correct CAD files just isn't a skill they possess. In their defense they do have an encyclopedic knowledge of city, county, and state zoning regulations, which I do not.
When you get a title report a professional surveyor is supposed to read and analyse the document, identify its shortcomings, and shepherd the title company through the repair process. Not just ALTA whatever crap you get. I can't remember the last time I produced an ALTA based on the initial version of the title report.
@norman-oklahoma This was worse than that, it went through the road legalization process in Clackamas County. It was a private surveyor not the county. No one but surveyors involved.

I learned a long time ago, it never pays to be the hero.

I get it, but the problem with me is I'm usually the one also working with the contractor to get it constructed right, so many times I'm creating CAD that I'm going to put on the ground.
