I am close to pulling the trigger on purchasing a Leica GS14 GNSS, with the hope of being able to operate it with a Getac PS236 data collector running Carlson SurvCE 3.0. If anyone has information as to wheter or not this particular data collector will work with the GS14 I would appreciate hearing. If I learn that it will not I can save myself the Leica $750 OWI license fee. Thanks in advance for anyone who can share information regarding what data collectors have been found to work with this particular GNSS receiver.

Only Fielgenius running in CS15 is the only third party setup that doesn't require the OWI license. It requires otherwise. This means that irrespective of DC brand, SurvCE requires the OWI.

I was told by a vendor that the GS14 could only be paired with a Leica DC.

I. Ben Havin,

The information is at this recent post.

If you use Carlson you will need to run it on a CS15 or CS10 controller and the OWI license is required with Carlson.

Thanks,
So I can control the GS14 if I run FieldGenius, and can do it on other DC's, perhaps even a Getac PS236? When my dealer demoed the GS14 for me he brought along a Windows 7 box from MicroSurvey, which he said would work. Not really sure if he had FieldGenius or Carlson or perhaps both on the Windows 7 though, since I was not interested in that DC, and it was not part of the demo experience.

Ben, you should take a serious look at our Hemisphere GNSS S320 Smart Antenna.
We can provide you with our XF2 HH data collector with Carlson SW SurvCE v3 software, or we also have the Getac P236 HH DC with SurvCE v3.We are strategic partners with Carlson SW on SurvCE, GNSS Post-Processing SW and Machine Control, (MC.)

If you already have your own Getac P236 HH DC, only need the HGNSS S320 GNSS receiver.
The S320 has x2 batteries, Hot-Swapable, x2 built in communication modules, Internal 1watt UHF or 1watt Spread Spectrum radio and internal GSM modem for NTRIP RTK Rover connection. Can use script file for Static data collection for NGS OPUS, (No DC needed). We would be happy to demo/show you the S320.
