I just prefer the type that hook to the top of the tripod as opposed to those that clamp to the leg. I feel the latter cause more movement to the setup. Although, the hook type are becoming harder to find lately. Most of the ones Leica makes clamp to the skinny part of the leg except the hand strap with hook. The hand strap seems like a pain to take on and off all the time which is what we'd have to do to use the pole-mount for our network rovers.
