I have a relatively new TSC3. First time trying to update the software (Access) using Trimble Installation Manager. I connect it to my PC running Windows 7. But, Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) does not recognize the serial connection nor the USB (using the USB Mini B on the TSC3).?ÿ
When I run Trimble Installation Manager (Controller) it searches my PC and says no licensed product found, obviously because the TSC3 is not "connected".?ÿ
My Yuma is easy, I just run the installation manager on the Yuma (windows 7), and it searches for an update and installs it if found. Ditto R10's, they connect via serial and update.?ÿ
I believe the problem is with WMDC, any suggestions? I am not sure if I have ever had WMDC running before on this PC.?ÿ

Did you go into the Windows settings on your TSC3 and check (or uncheck, I don't remember which) the "advanced network functionality" setting??ÿ You can find it under Settings>Connections>USB to PC.?ÿ Although, now that I think about it, if you have been uploading and downloading data from that device you should be set up correctly already....
I did that, and it did install something on my PC after unchecking that box, but still not connected in WMDC. It doessay on the TSC3 that it is connected..."Connect to USB. Status: User Authenticated" (on the TSC3)

I upload/download to the TSC3 using an ftp client on the TSC3. Never have connected it using a cable to my PC.?ÿ
You have the WMDC patch (speaks for Win10?) and I think there's also a support note on Trimble.com
Thanks, Chris. I will look. I also have a message in to my dealer rep.?ÿ
Look for a file named WMDCRegistryUpdate.exe on Trimble's support page.
Tried the wmdcregistryupdate, even though it says it fixes a windows 10 OS. Still no connection. The weird part is that the TSC3 does say user authenticated. But my rep told me that WMDC needs to be connected (which it is not) for TIM to work?ÿ?ÿ
If you are using Windows 7, when you plug in for the first time it will time 5-10 minutes for Windows to download needed files.?ÿ Afterwards a restart is typically required (though the computer does not mention this).?ÿ You can also try plugging into a different USB.
WMDC does need to be running for TIM to work.
I don't know anything about TSC3.?ÿ I have Win 7 Pro 64bit and I just typically hook up to my TDS Ranger with Windows Explorer on the PC.?ÿ I stopped using WMDC a long time ago as it offers no advantage that I see and seems to get glitchy.
