A certain county of interest has hired a new planner. They came over from the clerk and recorders office. This person has lots of good ideas to make surveys “better” like labeling lines with both forward and back bearings, interesting certification language….
If you have both directions to look at, you'll always know where you're heading. I mean really, get with the program Rankin.
I make that face just thinking about planners

I'm reminded of this story about what Bob Gibson said to his catcher:
"What are you (Catcher Tim McCarver, after being sent to the mound by Manager Johnny Keane) doing here? Just give me the ball. The only thing you know about pitching is that it is hard to hit."
If you put forward and back bearings on there you can leave the north arrow off so it's a total win.
Another thing that the Clerk is doing is instead of a regular recorders block with the date time and instrument number. She wants a block… I Susie smedlap, Clerk and recorder for (redacted) county, montana certify that this survey was recorded ____day of _____, 2026, at_____ o’clock __ m, _______by_______ Deputy, fee. She is signing AND placing her seal on that. FOMO ? (Apologies for my poor capitalization and punctuation)
Have you asked her to cite which MCA or ARM requires any of their suggestions?
@rankin_file The recorder always signs but a seal seems a little over the top. Tell them you don't have room on your template for it and see what happens. 😆
