UN-Solicited product review, by Nate
There is a guy, called Matthew Stansberry, who is selling a pretty cool vest for surveyors.
It's called a "Party Chief" vest.
It has a number of good features.
Longer in back than in front.
Lot's of pockets.
Padding on shoulders.
I have another vest, but it is just not comfortable. This one is pretty comfortable.
It costs $130. And I mostly like it.
My motive for putting this up, is that IF others are like me, and have trouble finding comfortable, and useful tools, that do work well, this one has my "I like it".
I think for winter wear, a larger size (2 sizes up) may be good.
I hope this helps others.
Now, wait for the pics to load.

I think this might just be a back door Javad ad ??ÿ. Look at that canopy!

Maybe a razor ad? ??ÿ
Those are some funny comments, but back to the OP. I've seen recently some vests around that are very long at the back, and I can only assume that some boffin has reasoned that when workers are bending over, as they quite frequently do, all of the hi-vis disappears when viewed from the back, so it is ineffective, and a flap of hi-vis at the back solves that.
I have a good vest with lots of pockets. The two things I don't like about it are that the shoulder peaks seem too long and they project out about 2" more than my shoulders. The other thing is that it seems a bit too long, such that when you're sitting down the bottom pockets bunch up and you can't get things in or out. I'm taking mine to the tailor to get these things corrected.
Thanks Nate. I have a SECO vest, about 4 years old now. It is not the top of the line 160 dollar one, but the 80 dollar one. I like it a lot however, when I load up the front lower pockets the vest digs into the back of my neck. I understand that the top of the line SECO vest has padded collar. Does the Party Chief dig into your neck when loaded up?
And I agree...Nice Canopy 🙂

I thought they are longer in the back to help with plumber's crack when bending over.

I have not yet heavy loaded it. But it has an interesting padded design all around the top.

I hope the Texan logs on soon, he'll be pleased to see that someone found his hat.
Who is that in the pics? I recognize the one named JAVAD, but who is the other guy?
I use the SECO 8068 with the built-in?ÿbackpack. It's great for extra flagging and a place to put your flannel shirt in the fall and spring when you might only need it for half a day.
The padded shoulder's sound like a good idea. Does this one you are showing have a backpack built in?
I really liked ??Stoneblaze? cruiser vests out of Canada (now made by deakon), but once I landed a job with the gov??t, can only purchase through us vendors, so the options are seco, safety apparel, or lightweight garbage.
My complaints with the seco is that I can??t carry a field book in the front pockets, and I was hoping that SA??s party chief model would fix that.
unfortunately, it looks like it would fit a bound fieldbook, but not a 6 ring binder.?ÿ
My solution was to stitch on a custom pocket on the right side of the seco.

That's what I originally thought was the reason for it, but then I dismissed it because as far as I know, builder's bum is not a health and safety issue. But now think about it a bit more, often PPE H&S requirements call for full skin coverage, and so you are probably correct and that is what it is for.
Didnt that guy in the picture use to play in the TV show Wings??ÿ
I never realized you had a previous Hollywood gig going Nate.
I use Seco vest, never been able to figure out why the front pocket is not big enough for a standard field book.?ÿ

Um, I shaved.
And, it has a double pocket in the rear.
I use the big field books. 6-3/4"x 8-3/4" they fit vertically, but not horizontal.

I have a closet full of SECO vests.?ÿ Great vests, used them for years, but they are hot and heavy.?ÿ I've switched to the lightest $20 vest I can find for the summer and a Hi-Vis coat in the winter.?ÿ I wear a belt/pouch so the pockets, or lack there of, aren't a huge deal.?ÿ
