My data collector was working fine with the total station. Started setting up this morning, and the dc will not allow me to open the station setup button. If I go into traverse/sideshot, the dc tells me "you need to set up your occupuy and backsight, would you like to set them now? If I click yes, it just hangs up. I have rebooted, re installed, called tech support, blah, blah, blah... nothing is working. Has anyone dealt with this before? also, when I try to exit survey pro, it acts like the whole program is hung up. even after i re-install survey pro, I am still having this problem.

please help.

Been using 5.2.1 for a few weeks now. Although We haven't experienced anything like you've described, occasionally it does have a tendency to 'hang up' for thirty seconds or more like it's lost. Only once have we had to reboot to 'slap it back to reality'.

Good luck.

Have you considered that your .survey file may be corrupt somehow? Have you tried creating or importing a different job file to see if you have the same problem with setting your backsight?

I had a lot of problems with this newer Survey Pro. It's super buggy. Take the jump to Carlson, you won't regret it. At least you get top notch free tech support and a solid program.

Besides trying another .survey file to see if you have the same problem, you might try exporting the .survey as a .job and then open the .job to create a new .survey and see if the problem persists. I've had some of these .survey files get goofy on me, typically when based on an older, extensive .job file.

The only real problem I've had with 5.2 is getting my polylines to show up in the .survey when exporting an older .job file from Foresight and creating a new .survey from it. For some reason bouncing the the older and newer file types back and forth seemed to fix the problem, though I haven't the foggiest idea why. Something to do with the naming of the polylines?

If when you do come up with the cause/solution, please post the fix.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

Are you running it on a TSC2? 5.2 runs slow on my TSC2, but its only locked up a couple of times, remedied by a reboot. I have been told that 5.2 will run smoother and faster an a Ranger 3. Go figure...

The other users are correct. It could be a .survey file that has gone corrupt. However, I have seen multiple issues with 5.2.1 that would push me to actually re-install the entire software package and try again. Spectra has version 5.3 out now, or coming out here very soon. As far as I know it will provide fixes for multiple issues.

I love the Carlson desktop software but SurvCE is pretty clunky. I use both, Carlson seems like every function works backwards and requires extra steps to do the same things as Survey PRO.

Still struggling with 5.1.1 and I can't say I've fallen in love with SPSO
and their as staked report format..... or the editor for their report formats.

Sent it back to Hayes. They re-installed the windows operating system, and survey pro. $150
Now it works. Don't know why it happened... Just glad to have it back
