Working perfectly. We have a remote project a 10,000 acre parcel boundary. No cell service except maybe one bar at certain locations that can get or send texts. No voice connection. With Starlink it's a great connection for voice, text, email, ect.
Great service very high speed so far. I kinda enjoy vanishing into the big country, however, I suppose this is best.

well you still can. It’s has an on/off switch, right? I mean you’re the boss….

You must be thinking I'm talking about work related calls. I am the boss there; so you think it's a good idea not to inform SWMBO that I got Starlink? 🤔
Okay, maybe her, but no one else needs to know….
Starlink mini should be standard equipment with everyone by now unless you never go where there isn't cell service. I have entire large area projects where it has been a game changer. If inside an RTN, then you can get a solution, it adds e-mail and phone for normal things as well as an emergency if needed. Had a mini now since 2024.
Since this is about Starlink. We are in the process of building a house and it’s very rural and all. How well does it work for the home. Can you stream with it and do uploads downloads for work etc.
We’ve been using it at our place since 2022. It works great with those TBC - I’m able to do everything I need with Trimble sync and Projectwise. I don’t use C3D so I can’t speak to that . Spectrum is being pushed into our area but I’m sticking with Starlink
I've got a mini. I am still amazed at the speeds when driving in the mountains. My wife and daughter were both streaming movies with zero problems.
We had fiber and the service was horrible. When it was on, it was ridiculously fast, but I really only noticed when testing the speed. The technicians are terrible; I think a 5-year-old would do a better job with installation. It was always going out for 10 minutes at a time and if I didn't reboot the modem manually every few days, it would just stop working until I rebooted. None of the techs could figure it out. When we moved into our house from a rental house, I called to have them move the service over to the new place and they kept going to the old place, then just left without ever calling me to ask why I didn't answer the door. WTF?
Moved to Starlink residential plan at less than half the gigabits and can't even tell the difference in speed, plus it's ALWAYS ON. No problems whatsoever and we've had some interesting weather lately. So far, so good. I was thinking about getting the free Mini they keep offering me and keeping it on standby for $5/month. Then I could take it on roadtrips.

Interesting article in the WP this morning regarding Starlink. SpaceX going public here shortly, anybody have any thoughts on that? Seems they have the rapid disassembly thing down, but turning a profit? The article basically points out what they're doing in rural markets where they don't face competition and have tweaked the regulatory system to direct more federal money towards their operations and away from terrestrial fiber.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
That moving away from fiber is funny. In the jamming post here on RPLS, I referenced a video of how they figured out what was going on and toward the end part of the solution is using fiber to connect timing references instead of solely relying on GPS and what would, I think, include satellite based systems.
Its toward the end of this video.
