Send some back to AK!!
If I could I would send it all back to Alaska, I left Alaska to get away from the snow and cold.;-) 😉 😀

I agree, it is hard to hear everyone complain in the lower 48. Please, please snow here. A lot, I want a lot of snow.
We are having the worst winter anyone can remember. I live 500’ from the slopes of Alyeska and it is their lowest snow pack on record.
Oh, that's just not fair!
This is what snowed in looks like. Just took this out my bedroom window. This is our hot tub deck, but the front door would look like this if not shoveled.
Lucky SOB
😀 Sorry, wish I could share. Went snowshoeing yesterday and going again tomorrow.... oh I think that I was working? So much fun I forget. 😉
I'm typically digging down through 4+ feet of the white stuff to find my mons this time of year. Now, almost nothing.
I know. It's just grim around here. I'm trying to remember where I put my ice skates. It's just so hard to see all those folks getting snow who just don't have any appreciation for the boundless joy it brings some of us. I don't even have enough on the ground to run my snowmachines around the back yard to drag out firewood for the sauna. It's nearly a catastrophe! If your a gardener around here, your perennials are toast.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
I bought a snow plow for my ATV three years ago, it hasn't snowed enough to break it in yet.
Here's the Canadian version.
Kinda looks like a bullet hole in your window..was it from inside shooting at Jack Frost?? Crazy winter for sure, just glad I'm a little old to survey anymore!!! The boys that got snow machines this year in upstate NY sure struck it rich!!! I am just gettin' tired of the zero and below temps all day, don't remember many of them in a row when I was draggin' chain....lets see .00065 times temp. from 68 degrees, times the dist., times depth of snow below your chin, or somethin'
Harold I found a snow plow for you!!

I have never, in my life, seen a snowmobile!
I'm serious!
All it did was rain/sleet around here today. Sunshine and mud tomorrow. Time to get back to work!
I don't get the point of surveying in that amount of snow.
What sort of work could you do?
Suppose you could monitor the depth of snow and melt/deposit rate.
Seriously, what surveying is possible?
Here you go, Harold. Vehicle of choice this time of year. I can get a lot done on a sled.

Mostly boundary work and a few Elevation Certificates this time of year. I do try and talk some people into waiting for spring, but it is nice to have some income in the winter.
There are some advantages. I may spend 30 minutes digging to setup the gun, but can see through the hardwood trees with no leaves and save hours of cutting.
Target Locked,
That looks like a great day to be in the field.
Gregg
Richard,
Around these parts winter opens up the whole country that during warmer months is a checker board of water logged wetland. Even with deep snow, access, line of sight, clear view of sky, lack of bugs (think mosquitoes from hell), all add up to make many jobs only practical in winter.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
