Has anyone ever gone to a GPS dealer for access to a VRS type network, and then have that dealer tell you, "your unit has a malfunction, you need to rent one of ours", and then later found out that there was nothing wrong with your unit? This particular dealer caught us the first time. Today, they tried it again. When we told them in no certain terms were we not renting one of their units and that we would be connecting to another network, they "suddenly" figured out that we could connect.
wow..Nope thats never happended to me..

I want to know who to look out for.
And no, that has never happened to me. I buy from Hayes almost exclusively.
Snoop, I'm not going to post any names right now, however, I will make everyone feel good and post a few names in the area that it isn't.

Frankly, I am highly pissed off right now. I've got a half a mind to call the manufacturer and tell them how this dealer has treated us.
Tommy what you just said is the absolute correct way to handle the situation.

Depends on the manufacturer.
I too am not going to mentioned any names, but I had the VP of Marketing for one of them tell me "f&$k land surveyors and f&$k ACSM, most of them are a bunch of idiots that are running their profession into the ground".
Well, did you whoop his arse????
Sounds like...............
........that dealer was still angry about the cost of his booth at the conference.......;-)
That is a manufacturer that I would rat out. And not just on a public Surveyor's forum. I won't put up with that excrement! Especially from the VP.
Jeez...I hope that's not Topcon or I'm gonna have to change my profile photo pronto
I want to know whom to stay away from also. Can you send it to privately?
None of you have anything to worry about. You aren't close to these guys.
> ... most of them are a bunch of idiots that are running their profession into the ground".
Not sure I disagree with this last part.
You're right Mark...You're right..

Depends on how many "most" is:
- Quite a few
- Over Half
- Almost all
I might agree that there are a few, but there are also a few that are trying to run it like professionals. It's those that are bad mouthing us, that you half to worry about. What's in it for them?

Uh no. These guys are a LONG way from up north.
I have noticed that in reading and asking about certain networks, they lean to the concept that only certain equipment will work on their system. That being the same equipment they sell.

Are you in Florida? You know, the FDOT has free access to their statewide network.
