Did anyone else in West Texas lose radio about 4:00pm cdt today?
Trimble dealer said we were the 8th caller this evening with the same problem.
Radio just does not transmit, crazy.

It's a conspiracy between the communists and the napkin makers union. ?

Yeah we lost our radios at 2pm (NE Washington State). Wow! We finally call Trimble as well. Wonder what is going on?!

West Texas and NE Washington, seems to me it is more than just a local "problem".

Seeing GNSS and radio problems near the same time all over the world might indicate a need to check http://www.spaceweather.com/ or http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ predicting solar flares for the next several days. Also heard there was one or more over the weekend.

I saw a story from the Discovery Channel that said there was massive solar flare on Saturday that knocked out some radio communications for a few minutes. Possibly related?

GLONASS problems...

The GLONASS outage looks just like a radio outage. The base data being transmitted appears to be completely unusable at the rover - just straight autonomous. Turning off GLONASS fixes the problem. Hopefully the issue is corrected soon!

GLONASS problems...

Agree with Shawn,

Turn off Glonass as they are having troubles.

It seems that anytime we are having trouble turning off Glonass seems to work.

GLONASS problems...

Hmmmmm .... I have to wonder if the GLONASS outage isn't Putin flexing his muscle, or at least testing the extent to which he can mess with GPS.

GLONASS problems...

I would have to surmise that the GLONASS outage is connected to this radio issue and all was caused by the CME.

FROM SpaceWeather.com this morning:

WAITING FOR CMES: Arriving a little later than expected, at least three CMEs are still en route to Earth. NOAA forecasters expect glancing blows to commence on April 2nd with a 60% chance of polar geomagnetic storms when the impacts begin. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras.

Now are you really having Glonass trouble or was is it just some April 1st high jinks?

GLONASS problems...

This blogger noted some oddities, such as the outage starting at exactly 21:00 UTC — 00:00 GLONASS system time.

GLONASS problems...

Yesterday afternoon late I also had problems. I was staking a location looking for a property corner and the radio started coming and going. It was also weird because when it went automonous it started showing me being off the point by 30,0000 feet even though I was within a foot or two of it. I switched from the low power internal radio to the high power external radio and it started working again but no Glonass. Sounds like a common issue yesterday. I just talked to the crew today and everything is O.K. today.

weird part is about the time everything started going haywire yesterday i put away the rtk and pulled out the robot. it was going bonkers- seemed to be mainly a bluetooth thing. rebooted, checked settings, was getting weird deltas on backsights. i was also backsighting along (and about a foot off) the wall of a regional clinic with half a dozen x-ray machines behind that wall.

i guess it's time for me to do some homework on operational dynamics of bluetooth, edms, and the possible problems around human microwave sites...

Yes, I replied in a different post but we lost radio around 2pm pacific time yesterday and never got it back with our trimble R8 GNSS units and TDL radio.
