I'm having a bit of a problem that I can't seem to wrap my head around and was hoping someone here could help out. I Have an S6 robot and a TSC2 with an internal radio running trimble access. When I start a robotic connection, everything works fine except for when i am withing 5 feet of the gun. The radio link between the two ALWAYS goes down when im too close to the instrument. when i move far from it, the connection returns, but is frustrating to have to have to move far from the gun to establish a radio link.
:-S

Now I also have a Trimble CU with a Robotic holder that i also use. With this setup, there is no issue with distance, the cu holder and the instrument can be inches from each other and it will never go down.:-S

I also have used both the CU and the TSC2 with a Trimble VX and i am having the same issues as the S6.

I can't seem to wrap my head around why this is happening. Please, any help is appreciated!!!:-)

Try leaving the antenna off the TSC2 until you move away from the gun. I have to do that with a couple of GPS receivers.

I have used those exact same combinations and never had that problem. Maybe try changing the radio channel.

i have tried unscrewing the antenna and it works, but removing it constantly can cause potential damage. I will mess around with different channels and see what happens.

Hopefully this isn't something that I have to live with.

We never had such issues with ours, we have 4 of them.
I first heard of such a problem this week, there was someone who mentionned it here in another post. I don't know if he posted also how he fixed it.

I'm a six year veteran of that combination and have the same problem. I am rarely close to the gun as a solo operator but when I do get close, my fix is to unscrew the antenna. I had an extensive learning curve and had I known when I bought the system that I had that problem, it would have been returned for a fully functional one. I have since heard that many other users suffer the same malady.

I have never had that problem. I spent about 13 days straight in the field recently where I was always standing next to the instrument, using the radio link. Never had that happen even once. I was always within 5 feet, sometimes inches.

I've tried all the channels and none have been better than the other. I guess this is something i will need to live with unless i can get it fixed for a reasonable price

this was a known issue with the RoHS compliant CIRRONET radio modules that came out around October 2007 in the TSC2. These modules were replaced under warranty until Nov 2008. Chances are your dealer wont have any left now as the TSC2 is discontinued

When close, your connection should be utilizing Bluetooth rather than radio; check to make sure the option is turned on. If it is, try turning the radio off when close and back on before you get out to 30' or so.

Haven't had this particular problem myself though, so it's just some obvious guesses.

I'm not aware that my S6 has Bluetooth. Maybe the newer ones do? Mines about 8 years old.
