I just found out that I'm headed to Spokane next week.

Rather than fly with a ton of equipment, is there a Survey Equipment dealer in Spokane?

I'd like to be able to rent a pair of R8s, data collector, legs pole and a bipod in support of a bathymetric project I'm doing.

Sorry I can't help you directly. But, I think Shelby Griggs lives in Spokane. He will either know a good dealer or might be able to help himself.

Shelby is a good guy. I got to spend some time with him when the ACSM Convention was in Spokane a few years back.

Nearest dealer is Seattle, Geoline which is owned by Trimble now. Local rep is Jay Wilson. 208-762-7875.

Yep, Geoline is probably your best bet.

Ooops. I stand corrected. Thanks Doug for helping keep me on the straight and narrow. Lord knows I need all the help I can get.

Hope things are well in your world.

Thanks, Geo!

I appreciate the info.

The survey location is closer to Spokane, but, doable from Seattle, too...

Jay is based in Hayden Idaho, just over the border. There just isn't a storefront in the area. Also, I have an extra pair of legs, a bi-pod and a pole if needed. I'm in Couer D'Alene, also just over the border.

That's the way those poor unfortunate souls who received their higher 'education' in Corvallis spell it. Just saying:-P

Speaking of Geoline...

...what happened to Hugh Nelson, formerly of GeoLine's Bellevue Office in Washington State?

Even though Hugh was in sales, he was our go-to guy for all our Trimble products and issues for quite a while. I called him from the field with equipment problems/questions more than once, and he always helped me figure out what was up. Suddenly, he no longer worked at GeoLine, and his replacement couldn't or wouldn't tell me what happened to Hugh.

I saw him at a SPSC-LSAW meeting a couple of months ago; he said he was unemployed:-(

Hugh is a resilient, resourceful guy, I'm sure he will land on his feet somewhere else.

Gendron's has been supplying surveyors in Spokane since at least the 60's. Google them up.

And if you need a PLS in Spokane to aid and assist in any way, do shoot me a pmail.

just carry-on your equipment

.

[sarcasm]You might try carrying your survey equipment on the plane. The airlines have worked hard over the past few years to make carrying baggage more convenient and more affordable to the air traveler.[/sarcasm]
