Shows that people using measurements over monuments has been a problem for a long time.

well- we know the 1869 guys were correct, not so sure about the 1980's guys. the story doesn't detail enough....

Didn't the Cochise County surveyor use a wagon wheel with a rag tied on it for surveying, in the 1880s. I think his name was John Rockefeller? The wagon is in the courthouse in Tombstone. Neat stuff.
