I am?ÿ not Chicken Little, but...

We have been lucky that Earth has not experienced a magnet pole switch.?ÿ This has happened more than 5 times in the last 700,000 years, and according to Nat Geo, scientists say we are due for one, and that some surprisingly rapid magnetic field issues are occurring right now.?ÿ A swap of the magnetic field will be absolutely catastrophic.?ÿ Magnetic field blocks solar particles and affects migration, satellites, and and kinds of things unimaginable.?ÿ It could make parts of the earth uninhabitable.

I noticed magnetic variation changes that started occurring rapidly not long ago.?ÿ Probably not related.?ÿ Scientists say they just do not have enough data to predict the next flip.

Maybe it flipped last night. I have 1hr15min observations at GPS midnight that failed/float, for 115' and 237'.

Since I have an OPUS-RS in the middle the two?ÿsite positions are tight enough for my reference purposes, but I am scratching my head.

The location of these computations makes a large difference in what they mean. You have to remember the magnetic pole is closer to Hudson Bay than the geographic pole.

The diminishing strength of the field is a greater concern. I haven't ventured a guess at depletion, but the thumbnail says I'm good...

Meh, we're overdue for an extinction level asteroid/comet impact too....
?ÿ
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what Iƒ??ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

A magnetic field flip would in no way be catastrophic. Previous flips happened over thousands of years and have not caused any widespread catastrophe. National Geographic has an article explaining it.?ÿ

@Jim Fleming

The End of the World?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ?ÿ Archibald MacLeish

?ÿ

Quite unexpectedly as Vasserot

The armless ambidextrian was lighting

A match between his great and second toe

And Ralph the Lion was engaged in biting

The neck of Madame Sossman while the drum

Pointed, and Teeny was about to cough

In waltz-time swinging Jocko by the thumb--

Quite unexpectedly the top blew off:

?ÿ

And there, there overhead, there, there, hung over

Those thousands of white faces, those dazed eyes,

There in the starless dark the poise, the hover,

There with vast wings across the canceled skies,

There in the sudden blackness the black pall

Of nothing, nothing, nothing--nothing at all.

Cheers,

Henry

During my?ÿdecades rambling about the?ÿGreat Basin (often traveling late at night), Art Bell was a welcome (comic) relief.

Obviously depends upon a lot of things, but reading outside of NG, I think you'll see that the scientific data is lacking, and the possibility of a shift being very severe and catastrophic does exist.

Similar to Elvis- like they said in ƒ??Men in Blackƒ?- ƒ??Elvis didnƒ??t die, he just went home.ƒ?

I noticed in todayƒ??s LV Review Journal that Art Bell, age 72, died at his home in Pahrump, NV. He was repored to have founded and broadcast from KNYE 95.1 FM in Pahrump.

I saw that today- almost on cue.... hope we didn't jinx him...
